There was a link a while back showing an 18-wheeler game (semi truck, lorry, whatever lol) that 1C was making. Anybody have the link? (wondering if it's out yet...)

"Oleg and the Bandit"?.... oh somebody please photoshop that one.

the plot has to do with 1c packing up Fb/Pf addons to Siberia....under a UBI deadline...with angry cops (community/forum members) chasing them across the country...

It was a toss up between being a truck driver or a game designer for Oleg. IIRC he flipped a coin to decide what he would do for a living. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

If it was that 70's show (TV show I mean http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), wasn't the Bear a chimp ?

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Keep your foot hard on the pedal
Son, never mind them brakes
Let it all hang out cause we got a run to make
The boys are thirsty in Atlanta
and there's beer in Texarkana
We'll bring it back no matter what it takes

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin'
Ah we gonna do what they say can't be done
We've got a long way to go, and a short time to get there
I'm eastbound, just watch old Bandit run

Old Smokey's got them ears on
He's hot on your trail
And he ain't gonna rest 'til you're in jail
So you've got to dodge him, you've got to duck him
You gotta keep that diesel truckin'
Just put that hammer down and give it hell

As a former big rig driver this sim will be the one computer game where I will be able, with complete authority, to say "Such and Such's flight model is undermodeled"!

The one with the chimp was called "BJ and the Bear" circa 1978 and before that there was one called "Movin' On" (with Claude Akins) circa 1975(?).

With IL2/PF already on my rig, and this 18 wheeler sim coming, my money is on a merged installhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Imagine.

I could see this undermodeling where the Peterbuilt and Kenworth can only do 80MPH downhill, with a backwind, and the Yugo Russian trucks sprout wings and Jet-Off !

Being an ex Comercial Highway Engineer.."Gear Gammer" LOL, from the 70s, 80s, and 90's, I hope this one comes to the USofA as it looks good from the screenshots I've seen so far. I just wish their forums were in english.

And yes, I've traveled thur 80% of the continental US plus Canada. You might call it a working vacation and a great way to see the countryside, but not the ideal job out there for various reasons. Just think of how you get those everyday things you use.... it ain't by trains alone. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Oh jeez, I just checked out that site...I thought you were all joking. This is what they are working on instead of Pe-2's and B-17's?

They could at least have made it like CarWars. How about some guns and fistfights? Turreted armored trucks moving desperately needed supplies through the post-apocalypitic no-man's lands chased by biker gangs and "Humungous"? Where's Max and the rest of the gang? Who gives a rip about the CHP I want the MFP and Goose!

quote:
Rig'n'Roll was based on a completely new engine. When the engine managed to crunch the already made LA center, we felt more confident. When it was followed by the first trucks (50000 polygons each), we had no further doubts.

Currently the development goes full blast, most of the technologies are either complete or almost complete, the modeling of the most of the cities is approaching completion, most of the vehicles and characters are ready, the work on the physics, AI and the script is continued, and the negotiations on licensing of the objects in the game is under way. The release of the game is planned for year 2005.

Looks like a fun game. The cities and trucks look great! I've always wanted to be a truck driver. BTW, this is not Oleg's project, it's Igor's. lol
