I know I am late to buy this but I think I am going to go ahead a give it a whirl. I would like to see if anybody has any helpful suggestions on which add ons or any other info to get started. Many years ago I played a lot of MS Combat FS but everyone tells me that it isn't near the sim that this is. I do a lot of racing online but I feel my racing carrer is near an end and need something new. Thanks for this great forum. Lots of good stuff here even though I don't understand most of it. lol.

Welcome,m8. Just make sure you buy the full set, named IL2:1946. It is a dvd that includes all the preceding addons and updates. Once you have it just download the free patch to take your game version from 4.08 to 4.09 and you'll be totally up-to-date.
It's great fun.

Hello and welcome.

The only game you need to buy is "IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946.
The box looks like this:
http://www.jucaushii.ro/images/boxshot/upload/IL_2_Sturmovik_1946_pc.jpg

Install the game, download the 4.08 patch from one of the links posted on the main page (http://www.pacific-fighters.com/en/home.php?skin=S2) and you have exactly what we all have.

Read A Nugget's Guide To Getting Off The Ground.. (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645) for some info on how to get going with this sim.

Have fun. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

4.08 to 4.09

4.07 to 4.08 actually. We are still waiting calmly for 4.09. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Welcome abpard. You are going to really really like this sim. It is PC intensive though... so if you have a relatively (say 4 years old or less) current rig it should be OK with better options the closer you get to 2007.

Have a question: got FB and PF,FB run ok butPF has to run on degraded garphic options to run smoothly on my small rig. Do you know is 1946 will fit on my PC? are the graphics much better that in the earlier versions?
One thing; can't upgrade my rig since my crappy Dell has special slots on the motherboards and can't receive other GC http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif (bought this **** last year http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif)
