If you're like me, and have limited time even to play this game, it makes you appreciate the work that goes into add-ons like this even more.

Thanks UberDemon.

For any new people out there, this is one of "The Essentials". With very limited practice on this software, you can make outstanding missions in minutes -- missions that would take hours to produce in the game's full mission builder.

Have you used UQMG before and did it work? If not and you try to install the upgrade without running the original installation, problems may occur.

Now that is a new one... UQMG has nothing to do with VAC... I am not sure why that would be happening.

I think Shift_E uses "msi" install files so I am not sure why this would be happening. Did you post about this issue in Shift_E's board at Airwarfare.com? He maybe able to shed some light.

Sorry about your problems.

Solved VAC issue, had to do a re-install of VAC 1.6.8, and select repair.
I have seen posts from others who are getting a missing file error, if they have VAC installed and trying to run UQMB and are getting a missing file error, if they look and the error box is labeled VAC they can try that ?? !!
Weird things computers (especially Windows computers) ahh, for the good old days of AmigaDos

sheepNZ,

I am not sure I understand your question. UQMG is a mission generator I created, dating back from the old IL-2 Sturmovik days a few years ago. It does generate a Coop Version of all missions you make so you can create Coops fairly fast with it. Ubi would not have anything to do with UQMG, I am afraid. Please visit my site at http://www.uberdemon.com for more information.

Hope this helps.

I wonder if someone could clear up my confusion.

Patches refer to PF (only) or FB + AEP + PF (implying the Gold version, or all of them installed). I only have FB, do I install the patch for FB + or is there another I have missed.

Thanks very much for any help.

Thanks for using UQMG... reading your signature, I just remembered, I met Lemmy Kilmister years ago at a Hardrock Cafe in Dallas of all places. I still have the napkin with his autograph. The guy is really nice.

Well... Ace of Spades!

Speaking of Lemmy,

The situation was quite humorous. It was a bunch of us going to some type of musical contest and one of our friends was a finalist, so we drove to Dallas to support him (a guitarist). One of the girls with us called Sissy saw Lemmy, and she went into a fit and started saying "Oh my Gosh... oh my Gosh... oh my Gosh".

Lemmy, being the cool dude he is, took a drink from his draft beer, and said... "So... what is wrong with your Gosh?..." So she jumped on him and gave him a hug and a kiss.

He was a really laid back individual. Not pretentious or anything. I am not a huge Motorhead fan, but you can't help but just like them anyway.

OneShotUsername,

UQMG is now pretty much a FB+PF+AEP 3rd party product however, that does not mean you cannot use it. All upgrades will be for FB+PF+AEP. Reason is that I am the sole developer, tester, and designer for it, and I do it as a hobby. Below is a some information that come directly from the UQMG help files:

************
NOTES FOR STAND-ALONE PACIFIC FIGHTERS (PF) USERS

As the title for this major upgrade of UQMG indicates (UQMG for FB+AEP+PF), it was developed for the combined install of Pacific Fighters (PF) over an IL-2 Forgotten Battles (FB) with Aces Expansion Pack (AEP) installation. There are two reasons for this decision.

But that does not necessarily mean it will not work with the PF stand-alone installation. Let me explain some factors beforehand.

First, it is apparent that most of the users of PF are FB/AEP users as well, and the combined installation provides flexibility beyond the imagination of any flight simulator released previously, at least in my opinion. In summary, I don’t see why someone that had the opportunity to have a combined install would not. Because of that I decided to develop the update to UQMG from that perspective.

The second reason has to do with time and resources. UQMG is solely developed by me. That includes all the programming, all the research (much of it historical using my personal military books library), all graphics, and countless hours using FMB to develop the map and mission templates, as well as using spreadsheets to build the template files, and of course, time testing templates and building sample missions. UQMG is simply a hobby. I have a family and a professional life that has nothing to do with programming or flight simulators. I do this on my own time with grateful understanding and patience from my wife. I simply do not have the resources to support multiple versions of UQMG.

"UQMG" has very complex programming in it. It has been in development for over 3 years. To put things into perspective, it has taken that long to incorporate all 43 maps from FB+AEP into this freeware tool. This is one reason why the Quick Mission Generator (QMB) in the series only has a few maps, and the creation for those templates is magnitudes less complex than the ones in UQMG. I corresponded with Oleg and know how the templates in QMB are built. I built a set for the Online Gulf of Finland for him, but it was never include in the QMB. I may some day sit and try to include that work into UQMG some day.

PF contains features, objects, maps, countries and unit regiments which are not available in FB/AEP, and the same is true for FB/AEP in relation to PF. I am making an attempt to create templates that explore the new objects in PF, but there is always a chance that some objects may only be available in FB/AEP, causing a UQMG mission to potentially not load properly in PF stand-alone. If nothing else, pure aircraft missions should work in PF stand-alone as long as you use aircraft, maps, and regiments that are present in PF.

To help you identify features for PF only, in the aircraft and maps listing I have added "[pf]" to help you differentiate them. I hope this makes sense.

If you own PF, FB and AEP, I urge you to make a combined installation; it is so very worth it. If you do not own FB and AEP, I highly recommend you to purchase both. I even recommend you to purchase the original IL-2 Sturmovik, as all missions in that highly acclaimed simulator are compatible with FB+AEP+PF. UQMG can help you transfer all those IL-2 missions into your current version through the UQMM (UberQuick Mission Manager) imbedded application.

I would love to use your software, but I cannot launch it. After installing it following precisely your instruction, there is a "File Not Found Error": The File UberQuickPF\ini\fb100\main\map0\missionType.ini" was not found or file data is corrupt...
Could you tell me what's wrong?

My apologies, forget about my request. Now it works... It just seems that we cannot place it in a different directory than the one you suggest...

Hmm... that is strange. I have been able to install UQMG in many different directories, in the C, and D drive. I even had it installed in a network drive generating missions for another computer that was running PF.

What OS are you using?

I've installed the files as indicated (I think anyway), but when I try to load a mission from the Singapore1 file I get the following Error Message:

File Open Error:

There was an error Opening the Uber Quick Mission Generator file. This may have happened due to a newer version of UQMG. You may be able to ignore this error.

Even if I can ignore the message it's kind of irritating to get the error message at all.

Is there something I have missed or can do to get rid of the error message?

It is a problem with a particular mission. Not sure why it is happening, unfortunately, and it happens in my computer as well. I addressed this problem at the AirWarfare UQMG support forum (that is available from the UQMG Help menu).

As soon as I find a solution to the problem I'll fix it.

You should be fine with that. It is preferrable if you have Win2000 or XP, because Win98/Me cannot support the Ground Objects editor in UQMG, however, you will be able to use all other features.

It is important to follow this order:
1 - download UQMG from http://www.uberdemon.com
2 - Install it and run it for the first two times which will guide you through the configuration.
3 - only after you installed it, and actually ran it, that is the interface of UQMG appears and everything is ready to go then:
4 - close UQMG, and download the latest upgrade, then install it, and re-start UQMG.

That is it.

You must install the upgrade to UQMG after you install, run, and generate at least one mission with the original installation at http://www.uberdemon.com

That will give you the Singapore map.

Hope that helps.
