when going for boats, what do you set the delay at?

Thanks as always...

You can't use a delay when dropping on ships. Well, you can, but your bomb won't go off.

0.00 seconds, i believe.

any longer and the munitions sink and do less damage.

set to 0
good tutorial video can be found here

I don't think they model the bombs sinking at all, if they did, there is a chance (particularly against unmoving ships) that they'd do MORE damage.

yeah, sinking isnt modelled. so you can set it for a million years on not moving ships, you havent to be a bit patient though.

Yes you can set a delay but it doesn't do any damage, try it out. Without a delay the bombs explode on contact but if you have a delay they smack into the side of the ship then "sink" and detonate doing little/no damage.

zero delay, but release at high speed and low altitude. roughly 50 meters max. not having delay on sets the bombs to contact explosion. not adviseable to release bombs at low alt for ground targets tho; u'll lose a wing in the explosion.

Make sure your release is very shallow or level, at high speed. A larger angle, and the bomb will detonate right under you. P-47 is great for this. High speed dive, level out, drop and pull up. You can sink heavy cruisers by laying 2000lbs of bombs in one spot on the water line.

I have sunk freighters using 3.0 second delay and skip bombing. The freighter was damaged but the bomb blast was the one to sink the ship (quite clearly).
