Found this site about U-47's attack on Royal
Oak. Lots of good details.

Excellent; thank you for drawing attention to the U47 site. Maps of Britain's naval bases which appeared in Jane's All the World's Fighting Ships between the Wars must have been quite useful to the Kriegsmarine and the Imperial Japanese Navy...

Ok, that map clearly shows there is an eastern access to Scapa, so why is it blocked of with stripps of land in the game?

Yes! Why? I read Priens attack on the Royal Oak and thought, hey, I'd like to recreate it but those areas where blockships existed were covered by land.

By the way, I snuck into Scapa at night after I finished my patrol nearby and found the King George BB sitting there. 6 or 7 torps later (set 1 meter under draft with magnetic pistols) and it went down. Then I outran a flower corvette on the surface. Yee haw!

It's probably easier to use land to block and try and have sunken ships to block an area. A compromise in the game maybe?

This land in place of the water is silly. The real scapa flow has the passages of which prien slipped through. Where are they here? We had the land more properly mapped in SHII. I miss that SHII scapa mission. It seemd much better to me.
