View Full Version : A little bit of AC in recent movies!?

Anyone else notice several recent movies having some similar scenes/images of Assassin's Creed?
It's been discussed before about Prince of Persia , but i'm going to let them slide since the game franchise is all under the same name as AC.

But check out the similarities in the new trailer(Trailer 2) for Three Musketeers:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38an1IAG1TA

I took some screen shots of what i'm talking about...

Venice during Carnival. Big part of ACII's story.

http://andreneves.net/img/v33/p57453003-5.jpg

Hmm, the only thing missing up here is Leonardo's Flying Machine haha.

http://andreneves.net/img/v26/p113208455-5.jpg

Nice hooded cape.

http://andreneves.net/img/v29/p380449402-5.jpg

Hmm, now where have I seen something like this before...

http://andreneves.net/img/v26/p507940734-5.jpg
...
http://andreneves.net/img/v29/p3158855-5.jpg

This looks familiar(more than one key to open)...

http://andreneves.net/img/v30/p437129571-5.jpg

Hmm, spinning mechanism similar to the ones in the crypts in ACII & AC:B.

http://andreneves.net/img/v30/p231115580-5.jpg

Ahh. Nice! Hidden vault in what looks like a church of some sort. Now let's go down and find Rodgrigo Borgia!

http://andreneves.net/img/v30/p318836058-5.jpg

http://andreneves.net/img/v16/p168031229-5.jpg

Reminds me of when I had to kill all the guards atop Doge's Palace in ACII before infiltrating it. BTW, nice execution on that Leap of Faith. Ezio & Altair would be jealous.

http://andreneves.net/img/v31/p162157236-5.jpg

Hmm, looks a bit like someone's war machines...

http://andreneves.net/img/v33/p463753729-5.jpg

It's ok Leonardo. I'm sure you have patents for all those...don't you!?

http://andreneves.net/img/v33/p457865645-4.jpg

Looks like he's enjoying his Greek Fire Cannon.
http://andreneves.net/img/v34/p113972444-5.jpg

Ezio likes his too.

Now, I know most of you will point out that the Three Musketeers have been around far longer than AC and I won't argue that. But aren't the similarities just a bit suspicious to some of you? I mean, there have been many Musketeers movies over the past century, but nothing remotely similar to this one. Yet some things in it are so similar to AC.

It truly is kind of funny. I watched the trailer before seeing your screenshots and I have to say, I had a lot of deja vus...

You do have a point, actually. In fact, if I were involved, I'd double check to make sure there wasn't a case for copyright infringment.

No wonder they never were looking directly for Ezio. They also had to look for the Three Musketeers.

When they bust out a "hidden knife" I think it'll be evident. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

This is actually very odd. They're uncanny. I do think that any movie that takes place during the Italian Renaissance or anywhere near it looks a bit like Assassin's Creed, but this one just happens to have a man in a hood, who stands on top of buildings like Ezio, who swims like Ezio, who uses war machines like Ezio, and who opens vaults in churches like Ezio. It's just a bit odd. I don't know about the story or anything, but the photographs show it really does look quite similar.

Yeah, noticed that AFTER I took all the screenshots, cropped, & uploaded. Was too lazy to add that one but yeah. You're absolutely right.

I was randomly watching different trailers and after watching all those scenes I screenshot'd, I kept saying to myself, Holy BLEEP !"

Just look at those screen shots and replace them with Ezio. And in that scene of them all standing next to the stairway down to the passage, imagine Desmond, Lucy, Rebecca, & Shaun. You'd think it's an AC movie.

While there are some similarities, setting, high ranking religious antagonist, the cesarish enemy and some of the combat weapons and technology etc.
I wouldn't say it's enough to claim full on plagerism.

Also just thought I'd say it's been ages since I've seen Orlando bloom in a film...
That seems at least half decent.

if this is Paul W.S. Andersons new film (which it is, oh god GRRRRRRRRRRRRR)

I have even more reason to end the life of this man

not 1 of this films, is original in any shape or form and he nearly killed 2 of my fav game franchises

Plus he wanted to make an Assassins creed Movie not long ago. Thank you for not saying yes Ubisoft

i hate that man with a passion

On the 4th screen shot I made, I'm surprised there wasn't a chest behind those guards for looting. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I know that there is a new Three Musketeers movie, but did not see the trailer yet. Nice job on pinpointing the similarities since they really are similar. I personally find it cool that the director use some things from AC2 for the movie. I'll only get ridiculous if there is way too much references from the game.

I think it will only reach panic point when you see a trailer with a guard threatening to bring out Bruno the Donkey!

Bruno the Donkey? What in the world are you talking about?

Sometimes when you bump into guards, but don't initiate combat. They will say something along the lines of "You know what we do with trouble makers like you? We bring out Bruno the Donkey!".

Hmm... Never heard that one. I've gotten plenty of threats against my manhood, and an offer to stay at the "Dungeon Inn," but nothing about a donkey! Guess I'll have to find some guards and pick on 'em until they say it. Is there a particular area where they might say it more often?

Not to my knowledge. I am not sure if it's in AC2 or ACB or both. I just know i have heard it plenty of times :P.

I think it's in ACB when you bump into the normal guards in the city, but i'll quickly load it up and check if i can get them to say it again to make sure.

Somebody else will likely reply before i get back though confirming or denying which game it's in :P.

Edit: After quickly checking both ACB and AC2 i found it. It's in AC2 in Florence. I just went running around the area by Leonardo's Workshop bumping into guards. The second group i bumped into said "You know what we do with caponi (spelling?) like you? we bring out Bruno the Donkey". :P

Thanks. Though I don't find it cool at all that he's freely using elements from our game to benefit his movie.
