is there a bumuda triangle , the size of the planet, cause all im doing is chasing ships that show on the map , but arnt there when u arrive ,even the ones that are on the same square,, even whole convoys disappear,, why show it on the map , if it aint there

Ships move. It takes time for you to get there. Ergo, the ship isn't there when you arrive.

then why is it still showing on the map,,im moving all over it , so it should be there, and even the ones that are near ,, just disappear ,,

To expand on what quillan said:

The position of the marker on the map is the ship/convoy position at the time it was reported. In order to find these targets you will have to sail to where you think they will be by the time you get there.

they show the last known location of the target, you have to figure out where they will be given the course and speed listed.

Talking about Bermuda triangle... Once I chased a large convoy off the american coast and, hour after hour, new symbols of sunken ships appeared on my map. When I finally reached the convoy (following the trail of sunken ships, LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif ) there were only a destroyer and a handful of C2 cargos left.

I wonder if SH3 simulates alien abduction or poor maintenance of ships. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Best thing to do with these ghost contact is to click on them. There is a time reported there that represents when the sighting occured. If it says 8:23 and the clock in your Uboat says 5:47, that should give you an indication that the ships have about a 9.5 hour lead on you from that point.
