lately im flying the 190 d9

i noticed several times once i had finnished the cannons ammo that the machine guns of the d9 are useless once you run out of cannon ammo you better get home

so what i did:

i set cannon to trigger and machine gun to another keyboard button

as soon as i take off i press the keyboard button till i get rid of all machine gun ammo

its like two minutes fire, how much weight am i getting rid off here cause i even made a zero stall turning behind him

and others 190 cant caught me if i climb http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

I don't believe IL-2 models ammo weight. I might be wrong tho.

Anyway, it is 1500 rounds with 72 grams each - which amounts to 100kg.

you do well im like you

plz take a 190 d9 and test yourself what i said the difference is AMAZING

are you sure its 1500 rounds for the d9, its like two minutes of fire, and what about the total weight of the plane?

edit:

youd knew i fly with the tag raaaid, downing mosquitoes for fun

I've killed some P-63's with FW-190D machine guns solely online...
Machine gun isn't useless it just doesn't inflict as much structure damage (much popular http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).

Exactly.

This also makes Mc202 much deadlier versus hurricanes on a FR servers compared to arcade ones.

does anybody know the answer to my question i get rid off 117 kg of useless weight ammo but whats the total weight of thew 190 d9 with 50% of fuel?

in my other thread you have a track of mine where you can see how i outclimb a 190 on my six with superior initial energy

I can;t imagine ever being good enough at this sim that 100kg would make a significant diffrence to my performance. Some of my best missions have been with a full tank of gas, some of the worst with nearly none left...

Somebody fairly meticulous about his testing once said that the 109s are faster after emptying the MK108s...

Well Raaaid I cannot be sure but we know IL2 models weight as your fuel runs down. About ammo, not sure, I will definitely look into it. I would not be surprised though if you were correct once all machine gun fire is emptied. The roughly 550 lb difference between the F4U-C (with the heavier hispano cannons and their ammo) and the F4U-D makes quite a difference in game. I myself really like the FW 190 D9s in full real servers. Will look into it .....

I've ran some tests specifically about this... in about 3,000m of altitude you can gain 10-15sec faster time with empty load vs default load in optimal climb.

However, difference between default and only cannon ammo (MG previously emptied) is negligible... which leads me to conclusion that there is no big gain in emptying only MG's (few secs, like 3-4).

Also bear in mind that this works only for climb... in some of my previous tests I tested similar stuff and these things can impact climb mostly, while levels speed stays, more or less, the same.

Conclusion, if you want absolute best performance of your FW then yes, you should empty at least machine guns... I guess this would be really useful only in FW vs FW hotshot duels.
FW-190D as it is, is a good climber so there is no big reason in having slightly better performing plane at the expense of that much firepower.

well couldn't you just move to a more forward airfield and take on half the petrol too? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

actually I am more then re leaved by your post Raaid. I thought you were going to say you decided to go "commando" and then realized that pants were really a unnecessary item of clothing too considering the mild tempertures and weather patterns where you lived.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Does the P-47 take a performance hit if you take off with "extra ammo"?

IIRC it does.

I will post some figures... it should impact climb time mainly (also less important, turn time too).

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">

P-47D_LATE model. From take-off position. Quite faster.
