Im curious what kind of games you play beside simulations.

Are you a simmer-only or a multi kind of game player ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For example Celeon is a big fan of the Silent Hill games which are actually not played by a wide spectrum of players because many people find them to scary, cruel and depressing.

I believe the warning "This game contains scenes of intense violence that may be considered as cruel by some people" was invented with that games http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

But i like the complex psychology and hidden symbolism within the game series.

Ive read lately that many university professors use the game Silent Hill 2 to teach their students the basics of human psychology. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

You can even find several articles on Wikipedia about Silent Hill including analysis of its complex symbolism. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Maybe its only something for people who are interested in psychology and like intense psycho shocker scenarios at the same time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I also play first person shooters and adventure role-playing games like Knights of the old Republic or the Fallout series. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I played Silent ill 1,2,3,4 and I gave up at "the room" The games were just too creepy.

Did you see the movie Celeon? It came out a week or so ago. Very similar atmosphere to the game, ie suicidal.

As for my favourite games, at the moment im playing alot of Red Orchestra, I like Flight Sims, and Rome Total war.

I've played a few games but have settled on IL2, and SH3 for about 4 years now.
FPS's don't grab me anymore. My kids play them and sometimes I have a 5 minute go, but soon start thinking... 'This is cr-ap, where's my FW190 or my Type VII'. I want a real game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

"The Room" was a setback for the series.

Too much action shooting and not very challening puzzles. Plus those invulnerable enemys which caused great frustration.

I heard that this was the overall response from the community and that the devs said they wont follow this action based style in the next games.

They want to go back to the complex psychological story of part 2 which is also my favourite Silent Hill game. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I havent seen the movie yet but im really hot for it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I heard my favourite monster Pyramid head which was created out of James Sunderlandâ´s inner wish for self-punishment is also in the movie. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

He even has his own wikipedia article, can you believe this ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I looked up the wikipedia article after you mentioned it. Cool.

Pyramid head is in the movie alright, Kicks *** too. That sword of his is lethal.

I have the total realism mod too for RTW. There is another very good mod that is nearly complete.

http://forum.thelordz.co.uk/

They are changing the RTW troops to Napoleonic troops, and doing a damn fine job of it too. Its nearly complete.

Have you seen the new Medieval2 screenshots??

I've enjoyed many games from many genres over the years... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Platform games, adventure/RPG, side or top-scrolling shoot-em-ups, beat-em-ups, puzzles, sports, racing, simulations, FPS's, RTS's, some games that didn't even fit into a genre.... I could name lots of each type.

SH3 is the only simulation I have played for a long time though. Most of my other games are RTS or FPS. The biggest exception in the last year or two has been Sid Meier's 'Pirates' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Remember Sid Meier's 'Silent Service'?

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c188/VikingG/silentservice.jpg http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c188/VikingG/silentservice2.jpg

I don't think that game had any bugs in it! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

More than any other player you can find http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Since i use it i dont need an extra quicktime or divx player anymore http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Games I have preordered or plan of getting for definate!

Farenheit (still haven't got round to it)
S.T.A.L.K.E.R : oblivion lost
Silent hunter 4
Resident Evil 4 (coming to PC in september)
PT boats: knights of the sea
Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium wars
Suddern Strike 3
Olegs battle of britain

Games Im currently playing

Call of Duty 2 (MP)
battle feild 2 (MP)
IL2 the complete collection.
Fear (Im a little dissapointed so far)
Splinter cell 3: chaos theory

Games ive most enjoyed over the past five years or so:

Command & Conquer (the whole series including Red Alert and generals)
Silent Hill series
Resident Evil series.
Silent hunter 3 (of course)
Half life 1 & 2
Grand theft auto 3 and VC (might get San andreas eventually))
Operation flash point
Deus Ex 1 & 2
Unreal tournament (the orginal)

The Silent hill series is fantastic, I played and finnished all 4, I had the origional on PSX (many years ago) And i own 2,3 & 4 on PC.
Silent hill 2 will always be my firm favorite, it has a fantasic david lynch style story line and well developed characters, its probably THE most memorable game ive ever played, a true classic.

Another excellent game well worth playing is Deus Ex, that game is six years old, though it MUST be played by every PC owner, unfortunaley the sequal "invisible war" couldnt live up to its predescessors high standards - though it was still a good game in its own right.

Ancient history; started with space invaders and galaxians on the exidy sorcerer. Loaded by tape. Shows one's age, what?

Later; Wolfenstein 3D. Red Baron, one and two. Aces of the Pacific, Europe. All MS flight sims. Doom, Duke Nukem, Quake for a while. Half-life a lot. Silent Hunter I and II. I more. H&D I and II. IL2. Only really ever played single player, except Doom II with a mate through the phone line a few times.

Favourite I reckon would have to be OFP. SH3 has eclipsed it now for me, but I long to return to the green fields of Everon one day.

Looking forward to Armed Assault.
