This will be my last computer upgrade,so I'm buying the best Mobo and the best graphic card to date, 4mb ram,samsung 22" monitor,but which CPU that is the question?

Intel core 2 duo,e6850 cpu 3.0 GHZ 4MB cache-or-Quad Q 6600 cpu go stepping? 2.4GHZ 2x4mb

I need to be ready for all those direct X10 games but especially BOB. so help me out boys.

I went with the Intel core 2 duo,6850 cpu 3.0 GHZ w/4MB cache...for the money, this is an awesome CPU...mobo is ASUS P5N32-E SLI...I pick my new system up on Saturday http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

From what I´ve read,the quad 6600 is more future proof then a duo due to all later game will take advatage of four cores.
I also read,if you are going to overclock the 6600,if not the 6850.I guess it´s a suggestion for the causal computer guys,like me.
I got a 6850 and love it a lot,future proof or not.Anyway my mobo can hadle quad too if that would be neccesary,but then we are up to eight cores I guess so I will need a new mobo too...and a new graphic card...and new memmory sticks...and a new psu........

Go with the quad 6600, loads of games are going to be/are taking advantage of quad cores (eg Crysis, FsX SP1, HL2: Episode 2, Supreme Commander, Unreal III, Alan Wake, Spore, etc). Plus you can overclock it to 3.4ghz easily on air. On watercooling some guys have got it to 4ghz

I can see lots of flight simulators being multi threaded.
