Hi, i've been building a new comp for a mate of mine, and have been playing around with il2 on it. Now his comp runs perfect mode nicely, amd64 3700, 6800gt. unfortunatley my amd64 3200 with a 5900ultra dosent really get on with the water.

Now what i want to know is, is there anyway i can get the increased visability distance that comes with running perfect, but with the water from excelent.

I thought it would be a setting in the config, but to my suprise after looking at both mine and his side by side, the only diffs i could see were vid id, and hardware shaders

any ideas??

Is your name Eric? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

As for the question, I don't know for sure. I thought the Water level was a setting in the ini file.

I've already tried setting water to 0, and even -1, It just satys looking as water=1.

from playing around it seems that its hardware shaders=1 that gives the extra distance. It just seems odd that you cant configure the game to give you the extra draw distance minus the water effect/ hardwareshader effects.

i also tried raising visabilitydistance to 4, but no effect.

Its a shame because i have a decent fps (excluding perfect water), and it would be nice not to have aa firing at you floating above the ground, while you wait for the polygons to fill in underneath it, as happens for example on the pacific islands map.

oh, my names not eric http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

I've seen this question asked quite a few times. Unfortunately, as far as we know it can't be done. A real shame.

Cheers,

RocketDog.

Since it seems most missed it (not saying you did) -

Praline: The man from the cat detector van.

Clerk: The loony detector van, you mean.

Praline: Look, it's people like you what cause unrest.

Clerk: What cat detector van?

Praline: The cat detector van from the Ministry of Housinge.

Clerk: Housinge?

Praline: It was spelt like that on the van. I'm very observant. I never seen so many bleedin' aerials. The man said their equipment could pinpoint a purr at four hundred yards, and Eric being such a happy cat was a piece of cake.

Clerk: How much did you pay for this?

Praline: Sixty quid and eight for the fruit-bat.

Clerk: What fruit-bat?

Praline: Eric the fruit-bat.

Clerk: Are all your pets called Eric?

Praline: There's nothing so odd about that. Kemel Attaturk had an entire menagerie called Abdul.
