I know you're all sick of hearing (well... seeing) threads like this; but I've spent ages trying to get the files to be 'read only' for MAT Manager, I've tried everything, including the CMD thing, and it still says 'Source Folder C/Program Files.... etc... not found for copy'

It's infuriating to say the least, and I thought I'd try one last plea for help before giving up.

This is the install procedure for windows xp.

1.> Get the program from here.

http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3117

2.> Go to your IL2-1946 Folder and copy the il2fb.exe icon do your desktop. Then rename it il2 and place it back in the game folder.

Open up your conf.ini and scroll down to the [game] section and add this line at the end of it.

ClearCache=0

So now it should look like this:

[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=0
mapPadX=0.6689453
mapPadY=-0.046875
viewSet=34
Intro=0
NoSubTitles=1
NoChatter=1
NoHudLog=0
NoLensFlare=1
iconTypes=3
eventlog=eventlog.lst
eventlogkeep=0
3dgunners=0
ClearCache=0

3.> Now install program to your il2-1946 folder.

Now open up Mat Manager 2.36 and it will say cannot find the il2.exe.
Click on the one the top icon and locate it to your il2-1946 main folder and then click ok.

4.> Make some changes to the Mat files like adding textured insignia's or random numbers etc.

5.> Click on Save then Quit when your done and see if the changes you make worked.

The End.

Thank-you sooo much JG51_Rudel, it works fine now, and the difference is quite astonishing!
To think that I was wasting all my time getting the 'read only' thing to work, when that install did it all for me.
Thanks again! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Essential program/software, default markings look frankly ridiculous after using MAT Manager but never had a smooth install of it .

Not easy to install, but well well worth the effort, and just as important as copying across my skins folder, when doing a fresh install!

Utterly essential. Every bit as good as a paid addon. No wait - better! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
