i will try to add some of mine in a bit. my brother and I snapped a few pics, but we were busy. we brought our next door neighbors child (who is deaf) to go with us. he LOVED all the sights and "concussions" of it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

he said he could tell what aircraft was going by , just by the reverberations. that was cool http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks guys. I ended up with 515 pics but some didn't turn out well for whatever reason. I'll add some more.

GAU-8 That's cool he had a good time. By all means, post more pics here. It's always good to look thru the camera of another person. I've learned a lot that way.

That 'Cat needs some new paint; but on the plus side, it is easier to track in the air http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
I'll see if I can rummage up the in-flight pic of the B-24.

10-12-2007, 09:08 PM
Beautiful! THX....

10-12-2007, 10:03 PM
Wow...they have totally redone that B24, the 27th of the line i think. I read they restored the unusual tail position as well. Did you get a shot of that? Thanx.

10-12-2007, 10:11 PM
Kewl. Those Yaks and CJ-6's were here last weekend for our small airshow. There were alot of T-34's too.

10-13-2007, 08:36 AM
Nice pictures!
To bad that you didn't take any close photos of IJAAF planes.

10-13-2007, 10:22 AM
Enforcer: I got one of the tail but it's bad, I'll post anyway (never shoot idiot mode http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Enforcer: Here's the B-24 pics, I tried to clean them up without much luck.

10-15-2007, 01:41 PM
Thats the 1st time I have ever seen a tail turret like that on a B-24! That must be a very early libby!

I know, that's why a snapped a couple of the tail; I'd never seen it before. It's a B-24A. Something like the 26th or 27th off the production line.

10-15-2007, 05:51 PM
Wow...great shots. Thanx man. I really am impressed with the work they did on that thing since i last saw it back in 90. That B24 was off the first run, and was intended for the RAF. Note the round nacelles.......I think it was the 27th off the line. It was impressed into the USAAC as a C-87 transport and was flown thru the war in that role. Thre aren't many pix around of the tail position. All the early bombers had those jury rigged primitive type gun positions. Check a pic of a B-26A...it's similar .

An accurate paint scheme to. Alot of history behind that plane.

10-15-2007, 05:57 PM
I went digging thru a book of mine. They showed that B-24 in a desert tan & wearing Diamond 'Lil as the noseart. The book said she was in the process of being restored back to the original. Guess the book needs an update now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

10-15-2007, 06:11 PM
Yeah, it was Lil for a few decades until they did a detailed rebuild. Must've had some major sponsors. Boeing totally rebuilt the B-29 at thier Seattle plant.

THese are a few of the many shots i took over the yrs 88-90. I still havent scanned the best ones yet. Im in the process of doing so. I don't have a shot of the tail however, though the round nacelles are very visible here. So is the open cargo door that was added in the wartime conversion to a transport, though you can barely see it here.

10-16-2007, 01:13 PM
Thanks for posting those Enforcer. That's the way I remembered seeing it. Love that old noseart far better than the one it wears now though.

10-16-2007, 09:56 PM
Yeah, I liked the old nose art and name to, but the current configuration is alot better, and the colors alot more accurate for that version of the plane.

10-17-2007, 03:21 PM
As long as it is more accurate, it's ok I guess. I've got pics of B-24 Witchcraft & Dragon and his Tail. Those are the Liberators I'm more use to seeing.

10-17-2007, 07:45 PM
those B24s are the same plane repainted. The collings foundation does that. I photographed that B24 when it was the "all American". The most totally restored one, and a friend of mine got to fly on it. Sent me the video. It shows up all over the country.

Elington Field is one of their yearly stops in Texas. I usually try to go & bring the camera.

10-19-2007, 04:49 AM
I'm so glad that the CAF has restored their B-24A/C-87 to B-24A condition. Such a rare aircraft, it deserves to be presented in its truest form.
