Has anyone else seen this movie? I thought it was hilarious. I especially liked John Belushi as the Pilot of the Fighter Plane.

I almost forgot about that movie. Time to watch it again I guess, I'd probably enjoy it better now since I'm older, and have an interest in WWII stuff(Thanks to Silent Hunter games and everything I have learned from this Forum).

That movie was an absolute scream. They managed to poke fun at just about everything possible, and more. I was laughing so hard throughout the movie that I had to see it many times to catch all the nuances. Christopher Lee was perfect as the aristocratic German Submarine Advisor to the Japanese submarine that was attacking the coast. It is truly a classic.

One of my favourite movies http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

There are so many hilarious scenes and jokes in that one.

I like the japanese sailors which try to get that huge clock through the hatch of the submarine :

"We need to find a way to make things smaller" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Or in the tank when the black guy gets flour in his face making John Candy laugh at him as he is white now.

A second later black dust comes out of the tanks motor and into Candy's face making him black and being laught at while he panicly tries to remove it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

But the best actor is definitly John Belushi as the crazy japanese hunting army pilot. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

"I smell Sushi" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Here is the trailer for the movie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdUCu-A7tgg&mode=related&search=)

I haven't seen this in ages (similar to "Top Secret" starring the ill fated Val Kilmer)

There are some great scenes ... The Japanese Sailors reation when they surface with the skinnydipping girl on the periscope "Hollywood" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Belushi essentially recreates his Blutarsky role from "Animal House" but is a pilot this time.

It's amazing, both Belushi and Candy are both gone now http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif They were both very funny men from my home town ... "Sweet Home Chicago" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I Just checked IMDB.COM can you believe it was nominated for THREE oscars??????

It was released in 1979. Sadly the DVD version is not available in Germany for unknown reasons....Amazon offers only the old video-tape version. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Ive noticed that you left that horrible Alien IV out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Very good.

Ah yes , a radio , you're right http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I also like that scene in the beginning when Wild Bill Kelso lands his plane next to that gas station and wents in.

Kelso "Ive chased to jap fighters near L.A " http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Guy : "The radio says its not confirmed that the sightings were jap planes"

FIRES HIS PISTOL INTO THE RADIO

"That radio is lying" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

yea http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I liked how Wild Bill Kelso finds the squeaky doll in his plane and puts it in his pocket and then is squeaking through out the rest of the movie. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

And one of my favorite lines was:
"we tried to hold the block sir, but the plane broke our parameter." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
