I didn't see this posted here so I thought I would do it.
I supposed it will get to the point where Friday updates are no longer a surprise, but rather the norm, just like old times for the most part.
Here it is. Scroll down to the last post.

I too was wondering about running on DirectX as opposed to OpegGL.
DirectX11? I wonder what that will look like?
I always thought that OpenGL was the way to go.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that Windows 7 won't support Open GL, Choctaw. I could be wrong, though. Did Oleg answer your question on 1C forums?

Does anyone know what the square thing is on the starboard Hurricane wing leading edge?

If you mean the rectangular red markings, that is fabric doped over the MG ports. Standard RAF technique to reduce chances of them freezing. Also seen on Spitfires.

Edit: ---- No, you probably mean the thing sticking out just inboard of the MGs on the starboard wing. Gun camera perhaps?

I always thought with IL2, going back to the original game, that DirectX was less prone to the micro stutters on my machines than OpenGL was. It might not have looked as good but it certainly ran smoother.

The Windows 7 RC supports OpenGL no problem.

...the original 8 Browning machine guns, and the camera gun in the starboard wing.

Looks like it is a gun camera. The Hurricane in the picture has that box too.

Nice rivets on that Hurri'. It's nice to see that the skins allow for that level of detail. Also nice to see that they aren't overdone as we've seen in some earlier WIP's.

So long as your video drivers support it... it will work. I play IL-2 in OpenGL mode on Windows 7 ... not a problem.

It is funny because the same rumour was out there about Windows Vista and Open GL. I imagine Windows 8 will have the same rumour http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
