After BoB and the subsequent expansions are over, if 1C Maddox are still around, what new sim would you want?

For me, itd be a close matchup between WW1 and a nice military chopper sim http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Yes, I would pay lots of money for a "Longbow 2" modernized sim. The community really lacks of chopper sims since then. I mean, of course, hardcore chopper sims....

WWI sure would be nice http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif But I'm not sure it'll happen.
My guess would be that 1C will use the BOB engine to make a lot of add-ons covering some of the overseen battlefields, Meditérrainian, the spanish civil war, battle of the Atlantic, and hopefully the Europian night bombing campaigns! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
Anyway I'm just dreaming, but 1C has earned a reputation of going where no flight sim has been before geographically as well as in overall game quality.

That would be about 2015, if we get the expansions, 1CM will obviously still be here, at least the grown up baby M, not sure about us though.

Ah yea!
A real new mil chopper sim: i just loved Comanche Hokum and Apache Hawk...the best chopper sim ever made!
Think, sim world need a good new chopper sim,...mabye with transport mission with "non-fighter" choppers.

Yeah, that would be cool too, as long as its challenging and fun, like Medivacin outta Nam or something!

I remember Commanche 3, that was my first chopper sim, and I think my first flight sim in all too! Was an awesome game, seriously guys! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

if anyone is interested...

A large scale mod (effectively a new game) for CFS3 is being developed for WW1.

Details can be found at simouthouse http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

This almost makes me cry.http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_069a.html This sim looks like it could have been the IL2 of WW1, but it got canceled. So if anyone has millons of dollers burning a hole in thier pocket maybe you could fund the project. We would all be very grateful.

ah yeah...i also played Medivac...too easy, but the idea was really interresting!
I think that a new chopper sim need the two aspects of chopper missions : fighter (also escort) and logistics. that wold be great.

KOA yes ~> http://www.simhq.com/_air/air_069a.html

When that died, and the new Xbox "wow" arcade WW1 game came out on the PC too, one of the KOA Devs who had been posting at simhq and trying to get KOA back on track came posting at the "wow" forum, explaining the difference between KOA and WoW.

The previously "hardcore" KOA Fans gave the KOA developer the push off. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif sad...

The "wow" looks like it was designed to be a real WW1 flight sim, but the end result looks like the Publisher demanded it be arcade shooter only. The intense terrain grafix and plane models just DON'T MATCH the arcade gaming features....this includes planes that only the most hardcore WW1 buffs ever heard of. Its bizzare.

I‚‚ā¨ôve always said, if someone could incorporate a game with a great flight sim (like IL-2 of course) a FPS (like MOH:AA or Call Of Duty) and a naval sim (like Destroyer/Submarine Command) into one online game. They would sell millions of them!

Any of the Battlefield series don‚‚ā¨ôt count because their aircraft fly like ****!

Imagine‚‚ā¨¬¶.. ground pounding on the beaches of Iwo Jima or Tarawa, with air and naval support! Sweet!

A Huey sim of Oleg-quality! Now that would be a dream ! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

http://browndailysqueal.com/archives/huey.jpg

Slicks, Guns, ARA, Dustoff missions...
And then somebody make a campaign based on Robert Mason‚¬īs book "Chickenhawk" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Then maybe later the "Cobra-Expansion-Pack", "Blackhawks Forgotten Battles" and "Apache Fighters"... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

This is a longshot, I'm sure, but I'd love to see a simulation that covered Aerial firefighting. (Talk about a niche market) I know... it sounds boring, but what if it faithfully modeled weather and the effects of up-draft in a forest fire environment, etc.? Wind direction, fire movement, men on the ground. It could be a tactical exercise as well as a faithful sim. Get wather data, maps of fire, plan and coordinate your attack. Plenty of room for choppers and air rescue as well.

Plus, wouldn't California and other western states make great maps?

Also, the planes used are often older reconditioned military aircraft. An A-26 would be a blast. Equipment failures should be included too.

Some great pictures on this site... (http://www.wildlandfire.com/pics/air/air.htm)

Well, I have little hope of ever seeing this, but I think it is worth mentioning here.

WWI done on the level of the coming BoB...or even the same engine as Il2FB series. There are no up to date WWI flight sims out there...Red Baron II is long in the tooth with many good mods but there is a big gap between that and the current Il2FB series in depth and quality. I doubt at the present anyone else but the Maddox team can do a good one....but I don't see it in their plans.

The FireFighting sim could be cool, if it also had helicopter so you can dump your basket into the water and pick up water.

With AI firefighters on the ground, can you and your squadron of airborne firefighters put out the huge wild fire--hopefully before it reaches the towns? This is an interesting concept. Thanks, never thought of this before. Would need some cool hilly forest maps too.

A WWI flight sim would be nice, but I would rather see a flight sim based around the Korean War (1950-53), only on a much larger scale than Mig Alley.

An expansion for it could be the Suez Crises of 1956, only a few years later and using similar aircraft.
I would love to go on ground pounding missions in the Westland Wyvern, the ultimate in prop fighter bombers.

i think id prefer a vietnam type simulator including jets, props, and helos. imagine flying a spad (the real ultimate in prop driven bombers) against ground targets while slicks come in to medevac troops and f100s thunder overhead dropping napalm on a NVA occupied treeline. makes my heart skip a beat just thinking about it

Correction - there are up to date no GOOD WWI flight sims out there. I picked up a copy of 'Wings of Honour' by CityInteractive, in vain desperation for a WWI flight sim, in 2003 when I grabbed AEP. If you look at it purely cosmetically, without ever playing the game, it appeared fantastic. But Red Baron II had more realistic physics than this game, and can you believe that WoH didn't even have joystick support? A flight sim without joystick support? Why not just pour your development money directly in to the sewers?

WWI is (to me) the be-all-and-end-all theatre for air warfare, and if there was any chance of a WWI sim coming out anywhere close to the 1C standard, I'd be in heaven (or perhaps flying over Western Europe circa 1916 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif)

It's a real shame about KOA.

I too think Apache Gunship from Microprose needs a successor. Apache/Havoc had nice graphics for the time, but gameplay wasnt diverse enough. Hardcore chopper sims are very rare, i can think of onlysay 3 worthy of calling realistic:
Digital Integrations - Tomahawk - 48k Spectrum
Microprose - Gunship - Amiga and Gunship2000.
Apache/Havoc
possibly Longbow2 but ive not played it so cant comment. IMHO, some have g4y storylines to them, which imho is not a sim.

Vietnam hueys, defenders etc, would be awesome, but i think the forests etc would make it too laggy for todays computers. for now the only option is to fly huey in BFVietnam, but eww thats no sim.

Yeah, a real good copper sim would be sweet, and vietnam would be the perfect setting, no complex weapon systems to include just guns and rockets like IL2. Wide selection of aircraft also, huey slicks and gunships, cobras, chinooks, loaches, we can but dream

I would really like a Vietnam War Sim, Based on the GFX engine that lock on had, or something similar/better.. I kinda like the vietnam war era, where the radars weren't as effective, and the Sparrow Missiles often missed the target, flying from a Modernized Essex CV in the Gulf of Tonkin, or The New CVN Enterprise , or the other Midway class carriers etc...Flying the F8 Crusader on CAP's Skyraiders , Spads , A6 intruders to destroy North Vietnamese military installations, and the Air Superiority fighter, The F4 Phantom II ! And flying the F100 Super Sabre, or the F105 Thunderchief from the USAF... On the other side we would have the Mig 17 and Mig 21 as main fighters, and Some Sukhoi variants for bombers, if they used any...

That would be the ultimate flight sim, besides for the WW2 theater IMO.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

We are definitely due for a new chopper sim. Since getting back into sims at the turn of the millennium there hasn't been much new in that genre. Half of what is released can hardly be called a 'sim' by most modern standards. Maybe something with about a dozen choppers of various nationalities and roles (not just attack choppers).

As to fighting, flying, and sailing with an impressive level of realism, try WWII online.

I finally unsubscribed, as the small amount of time I had to play didn't justify the price. Still, an impressive effort, and very involving if you get in with a good squad.

I don't think I really have any interest in flight sims outside of WW2. I tried LOMAC (an excellent sim, in many ways far more advanced than Il2) and a host of other sims and I still keep coming back to WW2. The type of fighting and the look of the planes has captured my imagination for years.

Strike Fighters is okay, but it hasn't got the same quality like Lomac or il2.... And also i have strike fighters... I think the graphics are a little out dated also.. For me ..Korean Air War , 1C would be happy because of the lack of Communist planes they'd have to develop , lets see there was the Mig-15 the Mig15a oh the Mig15d... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif seriously a good Jet sim like that would be awesome ..Oleg & crew could do it justice ..but lets get the planes needed for the sims namely PF done first .
