Beland said they once had noises of a panther so loud during kills it was getting silly, is this still in? (the sounds at all even if hardly noticeable) Also, does anyone know a video with them in it?

I would like to have heard some of those clips myself. Unfortunately, they were all pre-E3.

I'm pretty sure that they were altered so much that they were unidentifiable from the start.

I think "fart"-sounds would've been more suiting for this franchise...

You guys are blowing this out of proportion. In all movies/games there are always crazy things used to make sound effects.
Remember, it's the same sound team from Chaos Theory... they know what they're doing. If Beland hadn't of mentioned it no one would ever have known. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yeah, one example for this is called Foley.

It's not from Splinter Cell and not even Ubisoft stuff, but check this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V6aVT_lthI) out and you'll see some crazy sound making stuff in the game industry. (in SW Republic Commando) Or check this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNvKhe2npMM) out instead, it's an even cooler short vid about Foley artists. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm sure SC is using the same technic in some way and nobody should worry about hearing sounds of a panther really in the game, it's just mixed in the sounds a bit and it's so hidden you won't even notice.

From all of the interviews I've seen of Beland, he's always smiling. So, it's hard to tell if he was really being sarcastic or not.

Personally, I think he was a little bit serious, but they wouldn't actually sound like a panther. There are many subliminal or subtle sounds that sound composers can put into movies or games that can add to the tone or theme of what's going on. You won't exactly hear it exclusively, but it's there.

If he wasn't being sarcastic, I think that's what he was talking about.

Having watch so many SCC videos, if there actually is a panther sound, I'm really impressed because I did not hear it one bit.

A panther roar sounds nothing like a punch. As evidenced in that video, whacking celery with a stick would make for a good sounding punch; using a freaking panther roar is just making things more difficult so they can keep things in line with the wacky world that is Beland's mind.

As serious as he was when he implemented projections.

Let's be honest: would you really be against this if you found out that he was serious?
