View Full Version : Upcoming movies! **UPDATED!**

08-02-2007, 02:43 AM
Alright, I've edited this post. Got some time to do some links and whatever.

Well, here is the movies thread I always post sometime during the year, lol. Watch the trailers, give your predictions, mention any more movies you think should be mentioned, etc. Same deal as always. Got some good ones this time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The links lead you to a page that describes the movie, including the release date, scroll down to see the videos associated with it.

Iron Man - Saw the leaked footage from comic con, and surprisingly, it looks very good.
Leaked Comic Con Trailer (http://www.worstpreviews.com/trailer.php?id=327&item=1)
The videos are being yanked from the net at a very fast rate, but this one seems to still work. If it doesn't, let me know, I'll try to find another one. I also have a copy downloaded if anyone wanted to get it from me if this link dies.
**Update** Official teaser now online. Go check it out here. (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/)

We Own the Night - A Crime Drama starring Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, and Robert Duvall. Phoenix and Wahlberg play brothers, but Phoenix is neck deep in the mob while Wahlberg is a law enforcement officer. Their father is the chief of police (Robert Duvall). When Phoenix's mob buddies talk about killing off the chief of police, Phoenix realizes his alliances are with the wrong people, but once you're in, it's hard to get out. But not only is he trying to get out, but he's going to try to help his brother and father take down the mob. It actually looks pretty good, hopefully it won't disappoint with Duvall...

Indiana Jones 4 - It's Indy, what more can I say? Sorry, no trailer.

The Kingdom - Jamie Foxx, Chris Cooper, and Jennifer Garner play FBI special agents sent to Saudi Arabia to hunt down a homicidal bomber after an American living compound is bombed there, killing over a hundred civilians. But now the FBI team is the bomber's next target.
The Kingdom website (http://www.thekingdommovie.com/) - Do not select trailer 3, it will crash your browser, IE or Firefox. Trailer 1 is the best trailer in my opinion.

The Brave One - Is this movie for or against our 2nd amendment rights? What do you guys think?
The Brave One (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=13865)

Death Sentence - same question as above
Death Sentence (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=19834)

The Dark Knight - Oooohhhhh yaaahhhh, Batman vs. Joker baby...
The Dark Knight (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=15813) - Don't bother with the high res ones, the teaser doesn't show any footage anyway, just audio and the batman logo. So just download the lower resolution ones to be faster.

The Hulk - New adaptation with Edward Norton. From what I hear, they are starting completely over, not continuing from the last Hulk movie, which I thought was pretty stupid anyhow... There are no previews or anything, they really just started filming now.
Here is a short clip of them revealing some concept art of what they want the new Hulk to look like: The Hulk Concept Art (http://youtube.com/watch?v=15YeV8QNPFM)

The Golden Compass - A fantasy movie with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig.
The Golden Compass (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=7892)

War - Sure some of you would like this one. Jason Statham vs. Jet Li, lol. Jet Li plays an assassin for the Chinese mafia while Jason Statham plays a cop, I think, who's out for revenge after Jet Li murders Statham's police partner.
War (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=13201)

The Spiderwick Chronicles - Another fantasy movie. I don't know, one of my friends seems very interested in it.
The Spiderwick Chronicles (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=13847)

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - Sequel to The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Prince Caspian (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=13009) - No trailer yet.

3:10 to Yuma - Western starring Christian Bale and Russel Crowe. This is actually a remake, there was an older western of the same title made a while back. Russel Crowe's character is caught after a series of heists where he murdered some people. He needs to be transported some distance to catch a train to where he'll be brought to justice. Christian Bale volunteers for the job.

Punisher 2 - They are also going to redo this from what I heard, new actor, new director, new vision of the Punisher. There are no previews for this yet.

Hitman - Based on the game by the same name. Codename 47 will be played by Timothy Olyphant, the villain from Live Free or Die Hard, lol.
Hitman (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=18813)

Hm, that's all I can think of for now...

08-03-2007, 04:57 PM
How about Thor? I can't wait for that. It's coming out in 2009...

08-04-2007, 04:25 AM
I'm sick to death of films these day, they are ALL sh1te,No plot, just explosions so idiots watching them think "What a great film!",sh1tty acting, overpaid moronic actors who think they are better than anyone World, overlong runtimes, and a rip off.
Movies are bollocks.

08-04-2007, 04:38 AM
I hope you're joking, because that's the reason why movies are getting better lately, because they are actually starting to move away from "wow the audience with senseless violence" and typically moving toward a more realistic approach to even as unrealistic of things as super heroes... But yes, when there are explosions, they usually make it pretty grand, but the movies' reliance on the explosions to drive the plot has greatly decreased in my opinion.

08-04-2007, 10:53 AM
Someone is making a movie about me? I sure hope it's not MNG! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

08-04-2007, 01:12 PM
Yah man, all of a sudden Thor is just some corporate bully going around the world attacking countries for their oil...

08-06-2007, 02:40 PM
why has the Kingdom been delayed so long, i seem to remember the original trailers saying it would come out in the spring- also the original trailers seemed to hint towards a different type of story- anyway, i want to see it. except i always thought that the concept that the Saudis would allow an FBI team on their soil is ridiculous- am i wrong?

08-06-2007, 04:32 PM
Not really, the Saudi's are tecnically our "allies."

But when I originally saw the teaser for this movie, like more than 6 months ago, I remember seeing September as a release date then...

08-06-2007, 04:43 PM
maybe you're right Demon. BTW re Hitman: I'm so glad they didnt cast Vin Diesel in the Hitman role- now i'd actually see this movie.

I really want to see "We own the night,"

"War"- the trailer i saw at the theater confused me a bit- didnt really understand who the bad guy was- Li or "Turkish" (thats the role i'll always remember Jason Statham for)

"3:10 to Yuma" looks cool, Crowe and Bale are both awesome and i really dont remember a good Western ever since Tombstone.

just saw a preview for "American Gangster" with Crowe and Denzel Washington- looks interesting.

08-06-2007, 08:50 PM
in War, Jet Li is the bad guy. Statham plays a cop whose partner was killed by Jet Li who is an assassin for the Chinese mafia.

A lot of people said Jason Statham should have been cast for the role of hitman, lol.

I personally think Timothy Olyphant looks way too young for the role. Codename 47 in the movie was like in his 40's, lol.

About American Gangster, eh, I'm not too into Denzel Washington myself, and the movie itself just doesn't look that interesting in my opinion. I'll probably end up seeing it anyway on DVD or something, hehe.

08-07-2007, 06:52 PM

I could be wrong about this, I seem to have a vague recollection that the Saudis actually did allows an FBI team to investigate in Saudi Arabia after an apartment bombing involving a number of US citizens.

08-07-2007, 10:43 PM
Yeah, I thought I could be wrong. But they definitely wouldnt let them into Mecca http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

08-08-2007, 01:19 PM
i really want to see the Assassination ofJesse James movie (Brad Pitt is awesome - in a totally straight way). plus 10,000 BC (http://www.worstpreviews.com/trailer.php?id=520&item=1) looks cool.

08-08-2007, 08:45 PM
Brad Pitt is alright of an actor. He is WAY overrated in my opinion. He's OK, that's about it.

08-17-2007, 01:32 AM
I want to see that new hilarious comedy Demon and Thor are starring in..
its called..."Get your face out of the washing machine Grandma before you get a sock in the face"
I heard it is a real good flick..
Leep Out:

08-17-2007, 01:44 AM
It got cancelled. Apparently grandma just didn't listen and got a sock in her face and the movie ended. The people in the focus groups thought it was too short of a movie.

pssshhh, who needs focus groups anyway...

08-17-2007, 07:27 AM
Leep, are you implying Demon and I have the same grandma? You must have gotten into some of MNG's conspiracy juice. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

You know, I just saw the original Die Hard just now on DVD, and in the scene when little Lucy McClain goes to answer the phone, I noticed that the actress who plays Lucy McClain in Live Free or Die Hard actually looks a whole lot like the little kid who plays Lucy in this one. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence or they actually did their homework even though little Lucy only has like 3 seconds on screen they wanted to make sure someone who has seen the original 100 times wouldn't be like, "that doesn't look anything like her!"

That'll be cool if they actually cared about her looks even though most likely most people wouldn't have noticed it...

Edit: Can't get a really good screen cap from the new one since it's not out on DVD yet, but here are some screen grabs:

Little Lucy:

Teenage Lucy:

08-21-2007, 12:58 PM
According to imdb, not the same.

Lucy in Die Hard is played by Taylor Fry. Lucy in Live Free or Die Hard is Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

08-22-2007, 09:59 PM
Yes, I know...

Like I said, it is cool that they would pay attention enough to the original to find an actress that looked just like the original Lucy even though she only appeared in Die Hard 1 for a few seconds. Thanks Kimi, it's not like I've known about imdb for a few years now or anything. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

08-23-2007, 06:59 PM
have you guys seen Superbad yet? it was great.

08-28-2007, 09:47 PM
Ya I heard SuperBad was awesome. I love movies! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The official teaser trailer for Iron Man is now online. Check it out here. (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/)

09-11-2007, 09:46 AM
wait wait wait, Robert Downey Jr is Iron Man?! Interesting choice, I like him though....

09-11-2007, 11:16 AM
Yah, it's weird, especially since he's pretty short, and I think Iron Man was supposed to be pretty tall. But anyway, I liked the way the original Comic Con teaser was put together better than this official release one. Oh well. I've noticed that for most movies, the first trailer tends to be the best one.

09-11-2007, 08:11 PM
ok finally saw it with sound (the first time was during contracts class http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ). looks even better with sound- nice to see they have the rights to Black Sabbath http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif- or is that too cliche?

09-11-2007, 08:13 PM
btw- i cant wait to see 310 to Yuma and also that new Vigo Mortensen movie where he plays the Russian gangster- he better not disappoint or else "i vil brek him"

09-11-2007, 08:44 PM
Stupid russians...

I mean, yah, that movie looks interesting... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Unfortunately that pic doesn't show up, I had to go to properties to see the image url to look at it, pretty funny because it kind of looks like he's saying that, lol.

for what its worth, it worked initially http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
