I got lucky in Scapa Flow a couple of patrols ago.
A Nelson and a Revenge battleship was docked there, now their still there, but resting on the bottom http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Most ports have something in, well I'd say 70% have, even if it's only a small merchant or similar.

Are you patched to 1.4b? I've only found 1 deserted port since the patch i.e. Port Said in the Med.

how many cap ships u sunk?

how many in a port?

i like how they told u the name of the ship ins SH2

as for the rest i dont know

it was OKAY

but SH3 is far better

i hear SH4 is in development and that itll be Imperial japanese navy boats

i think they need to do a remake of SH1

have it be US subs again

i know thers a mod for SH2 or 3 wher u can do a pacific campaign as americans

but to truly be good they need to make a new game based sumwat on SH1 which i never got to play cuz it was DOS http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

another good sub game, which was dos that i DID get to play was Seawolf ssn 21

i loved that game

i still have it sumwher but i havent played it in years

i wanna get a dos boot disk and play it again

but who agrees that sh5 should be american subs?

i mean theyve made 3 and theyre making another, whos to say they wont make a 5th?

u could hunt merchys around guadalcanal and truk, and near the home islands, and go tanker hunting, carrier hunting, battleship hunting etc

doesnt that sound great? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The lack of capital ships is a real disappointment for me. I would have thought that this problem would have been fixed by now!

P.S. I am running v1.4b

Well, I'm on patch 1.4b too, but since the install of RuB mod and Harbour traffic mod, I haven't seen any docked ships in enemy ports anymore, neither in Scapa Flow! Would like to know, if either RuB mod or Harbour Traffic mod have anything to do with that, but...? HT mod should add traffic, though only in friendly ports, not remove anything. Very strange....!

Scapa and lock Ewe are the only ports that you will really find any capitals in.

During two campaigns (second on August 40 now) I have sunk three Fijis and a Nelson.

Considering that capitals were well protected I think it is fair that they are rare.

still weird

ive been in scapa flow a %$^load of times and the biggest ship i ever saw was a DD

never been in lock ewe tho

but next patrol i will be

Installing patch 1.4b is like buying a Lotto ticket. You still have a small chance of winning but if you don't buy the ticket...... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

At least then, if you don't find the heavy naval units, you can console yourself with the merchants in dock. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Another thing, your chances of finding heavy units in Scapa/Ewe start out good in the beginning of the war and reduce towards the end of the war, so satisfy your heavy-unit bloodlust from patrol 1. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

last patrol i snuck into lock ewe

and found a Fiji class cruiser

i closed

and furether

and fired 4 torps

she must have seen the wakes cuz she started up

but too late

she took all 4 1 after another

and went straight to the bottom http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

You should enter Lock Ewe around November-October 1939, theres both a Nelson AND a Revenge battleships docked there at around that time http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Happy hunting.

I've been to Scapa Flow 3 times myself. First time the fog was so rhick that visivility dropped to 300 meters. Since the sonar won't detect anchored ships I found nothing. Second time, after a long search I found an anchored auxiliary cruiser on the west side of the bay. I checked in my book that it was really deep drafted, so I have set my torpedo to 5.5 meters deep, targeted it at about 1/4th of a distance from bow to stern, thinking it would probably have its ammo storage there. Kaboom! I did hit the ammo storage. Explosions in the night were magnificient! It went down really quickly, after just one hit. I thought the whole Royal Navy would be upon me, but actuially I just sailed off the western passage dogding few torpedo boats http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif 'Twas my biggest ship so far. The third time I got there I found nothing again, except for few depth charges from a flower corvette. It must have thought it got for good, but somehow I managed to make it back. Hull integrity 18%, few crewmwmbers dead, starboard engine destroyed and toughest possilble fight with a flooding. I try to be more careful now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Scapa flow and the fun to be had trying to dive in 15m of water while being depth charged.
