It is about time...hopefully this game makes people care for Desmond more. MAKE IT HAPPEN UBISOFT! Assassins Creed 3 WILL focus mainly on Desmond by the way. It was confirmed by Alexandre Amancio. So...what do you all think?

I definitely think so. We're going to see some of his memories as well apparently, which I would suspect will give us much insight into his character.

I think Desmond should get a lot more gameplay in AC3, but definitely not the full game as him. Ubisoft knows that history is their background. I'm actually very interested in seeing his past.

Me too. I also wouldn't be surprised if we learned more about his relationship with his parents. He said that while growing up to him they were like his "wardens", which is something that will surely come up in one way or another, especially since William "Bill" Miles is most likely directly related to him and very likely his father.

Looking at the animus loading screens in the E3 trailer, it sums up to like 28 memories(maybe less, but they are all seperate from each other) of Desmond's past.(I am thinking these are sequences) I think part takes place in some gameplay in North Dakota, hence the "Stone Faces". And also, I believe, it shows Desmond's capture; gameplay on The Farm, where Desmond grew up, his father and mother, and a bunch of other stuff. It is actually very cool.

William M is William Miles ... How did I miss this!? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
(Now I see why you were telling me to, I quote (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5251069024/m/3271044949?r=7761086949#7761086949), 'Please, for the love of god, realize that that would just not work.' when I thought William M was the villain)

Sorry to go off topic, but how did people know William M was William Miles?
(I just want to know where if in the game - not the wiki or anything - it's mentioned)

No, it really does sound like I've been living under a rock. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Thanks for the explanation GeneralTrumbo, I've been avoiding all the E3 walkthroughs & demos (only watching trailers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) because I felt after I watched everything before ACB's release, that some of the magic & excitement was lost when I actually played it.

Oh, he most definitely will get a lot more depth in Revelations. I don't understand why people don't like him. One of the most hilarious parts in ACB, was the banter between Lucy and Desmond under the Villa. That solidified Desmond,to me, as a awesome character.

Sounds like a lie. In all interview videos with Amancio, he gave hints that a numbered AC game will always include a new ancestor and time period. If not, then Revelations would be AC4.

A lie huh? I will prove it. The future of Assassins Creed will focus on Desmond. That is a guarantee. Desmond has a HUGE role in Assassins Creed going forward. Watch Alexandre Amancio's interview with GameSpot. In that interview, she asks him: "So you see Desmond as a role in Assassins Creed going forward? This isn't an end for him, even if it is for Altair and Ezio?". He replies to that saying: "No no no. This is an end for Ezio; for Altair, and its also really umm, you know, setting up everything for what's to come, and obviously its going to center a lot around Desmond."

Really? Let's see...
1. Ubi's new tagline for AC "History is our playground."

2. Ubi confirming every numbered title means a new ancestor.

3. Alex Amancio saying that the next games will repeat the cycle anew with a new ancestor....

4.You got owned?

I've always liked descends character.
Most people think he's dull, but even in AC1 we were given enough to realise that's just a defence mechanism, he probably had quite a troubled past, he hardly had a propper childhood, ran away from home and has been alone for 9 years. He just hides emotions behind extreme cynicism.
It's very hard to judge Desmond since we see so little of him, but I always enjoy the parts in the present day.

Revelations should definitely open a few more doors for Desmond, well see into his past, and hopefully be able to understand him better.

New character, not new ancestor, so far Desmond hasn't really been the main protagonist.

He'll probably get (much) more depth in ACR and ACIII and will finally become more of a main protagonist. I think future AC's will in many aspects be more like ACR in the sense that you're alternating between 2 different storylines that come together somewhere near the end, instead of just having a pause every now and then with some slight references to what is going on outside.

AC3 is going to be HUGE. I think it will have a lot of play-time as Desmond, while also tons of time as the ancestor. There will also probably be loads of game improvements and new things to check out.

The black room's features and such were made to basically describe Desmond, his past and to set him on his way into the future. If he can't get characterization here, I don't think he ever will.

Desmond is supposed to be the main character, but he's been steadily devolving into just the plot device alongside the animus and been stuck as the shadow of his much more interesting ancestors trough out the series.
