It take me $138.5, include the baseball cap, and oversea shipping.

but why it sucks? I heard it is quite good... may be you need some more time to get used to it?

Hi FatBoyHK. If I had a dollar for every person that had TrackIR and said it sucked only to try it later and give it the proper go then extoll its virtues, why, I'd be able to buy...a new TrackIR2...at retail!

Oleg86, I'm interested to know also why you think it sucks. Sure it's not for everybody, But I can count on one finger the number of people I know who didn't care for it after using it awhile.

I just bit the bullet and ordered mine. I had TIR 1 and I sent it back. I didnt like it, I move around too much when I fly and it kept loosing center..plus at the time I really couldnt justify it. I hear 2 is better, more stable so I am giving it a shot again. This will be my final upgrade unless something dies on my rig.

I just got one a TrackIR because it went on sale, and though all of the savings were eaten up by shipping (I live in Hawaii) it was a great purchase. If you can afford it, get it. It'll take a couple hours to figure out how it works, set it up, and learn to use it...but those hours are spent playing a fun game ! How hard is that?

The reason I say that is because I was one of them. I bought it, fiddled with it for a day or so, boxed it up and stuck it in the closet. it took me over a month to decide to get it out and give it an honest shot. it took a few days actually, but I absolutely love it. I talked to T_O_A_D and made my own reflective ball thingy and got a good profile from another friendly forum member (rocketdog I think, but it was long ago...sry) After a few sessions, It was like a light was turned on and I "got it".

Give the hardware an honest attempt and yourself a chance to learn. I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Thunderbolt56, since you are using it may I ask that, can I assign a key on my Cougar, so that I can enable / disable TrackIR2 on the fly? Therefore I have no need to sit like a robot all the time (as someone said :P)

I'm sure you can. I use CH products and can use a macro keystroke in the control manager software to turn it on/off or to center it. At present, i have center programmed to the numpad "-" key and the on/off toggle set to the numpad "+" key though with no problems.

I even take off my hat, hang it on my JS, get up and go for another beer. When I come back, I put my hat back on and it tracks right to center...everytime.

I don't understand this issue about not being able to move ones head, it must be psychological because I didn't move my head much when using the hatswitch, or even playing an FPS game. Do some people naturally shake there heads around a lot when playing computer games because I don't?

LMAO... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

When I fly and I am in a bank my head is cocked to the side sometimes my whole body..depending on how tense the situation is.... when I do a flyby and Im going real fast I kinda lean forward in my seat as the plane goes by. LOL.. I cant help it!!! I hope that doesnt mess me up with TIR. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

My daughter and her fiance were watching me one night and I heard him say "Leah look at your dad...he thinks hes flying...." LMAO

That's right moving your head will mess with your Tir. Sorry Bearcat but you will have to learn to keep your head fairly stll to use it.

SORRY, I'm not usually this direct, but all this talk about having to keep your head still using TrackIR2 is NONSENSE.

If you keep your head still all you'll be doing is looking straight ahead which kind of defeats the purpose of having the thing!

If you're keeping an eye out for nasties, you'll be almost CONSTANTLY moving your head!

And in a dogfight, it'll NEVER stay still (except at trigger time)!

If you haven't got one and you've got the money, it'll be the best peripheral you'll buy.

Get it and complain to me if you don't like it!

So right Nutcase - that's what makes it so realistic and why many WWII pilots wore silk scarves to stop neck burns from constant head movements.

I love my Tir!

I'd give up my joystick
before I'd give up my TIR
and it's the early version.

Oleg, looks like you didn't adjust your dead zone and response curve. I heve a profile, so Ican sneeze and my view stays in the center http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

And head movement is most natural way to control view. It's how humans control the view in real life.

I i forget to start TrackIR and play with hatswitch, I unconsiously move my head to change the view http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
