Hi there!

Does anyone here have a "perfect" scheme for the control commands in IL2:FB/AEP/PF? It should include the important part like bombsight, engine controls etcetera. Also the related command buttons would rather be close to each other.

Could you then please post it to me, either as screenshots or a Word document?

EDIT:
I don't Ô┬┤have any fancy stuff like TrackIR or so, just computer (****), joystick, keyboard and mouse.

PLEASE!

Hurricane, this mostly will depend on your equipment set-up. If you have Track IR or use the mouse to change your view, you won't need the number pad for some of the views. One friend that I fly with nightly has so many buttons, switches and such on his HOTAS that he hardly uses the keyboard for anything.

You might edit your post to let folks know what equipment you have. That way you might get more specific answers to your question.

Drop some money on go-flight switch boxes and a decent hotas set up - I've not touched the keyboard in a year http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I use Ctrl-1,2,3,4 to 'Select engine 1,2,3,4' and Ctrl-` for 'Select all engines', and Shift-1,2,3,4 for 'Toggle control of engines 1,2,3,4'. That makes it very easy to quickly select or isolate engines when flying multi-engined planes - if you want to Control an engine, press 'Control' and the number for that engine.

In my opinion, 1C:MG should have given default assignments to all the new controls they've added (or at least the important ones) since Il-2 v1.00. When a new patch is installed, pressing 'reset control assignments' in the 'controls' page should give all the important controls a key. It is strange that PF should be released without a default key assignment to take the wheel chocks off!

It is quite funny, when noobies complain in the chat bar 'why my plane doesn't start to take off with 110% throttle????' http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Hurricane, I think everyone fiddles with his own setup. There are big differences also whether you fly only fighters or bombers, too. Here is a table where you can start with and keep it updated with your changes. It may come handy more than once... (engine #2 fire extinguisher, quick, quick!)

Engine 2 fire extinguisher on my setup: Ctrl-2, Shift-F, Ctrl-F, Ctrl-`, Shift 2 if engine 2 is dead; Ctrl-2, Shift-F, Ctrl-` if it still works.

I didn't think you could assign keys to individual engine fire extinguishers?

No, it's not possible. That's why I find having a keyboard reference at hand a good idea. I picked the fire extinguisher example because you have to remember lots of keys to get it right, and not to loose flight control either. The sound and sight of a burning engine doesn't help remembering the damn keys either http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

There is no quick-fix `Perfect` control setting that anyone can give you, because no-one knows what your prefernce is. Simple things like just where you keep your keyboard and mouse and joystick, left or right handed, make all the difference.

Just start with the DEFAULT controls and fly offline and adjust as you fly (by escaping and altering settings).

? the only controls Ive got on my keyboard are Bail-out, Arrester hook, engine on/off (+ 3 engine selection keys), feather prop, supercharger stage.
Those are 8 buttons that are rearely used, anyway, i.e. just once or twice between take-off and landing.
I put my keyboard away after take-off - Ive got everything needed for flight mapped on my stick buttons and hat + plus my three mouse buttons for the views.
