"May be used either for targeted advertising, or tracking users across a particular website."

Its been discussed before. Its not sypware. I forget what its purpose is, maybe to help log on more efficiently.

Every web site you visit trys to put a cookie or two on your computer. It's standard practice. And if you do not allow them to put a cookie on your computer, you won't be able to visit their site. S!

I just put it out of it's misery (removed it) with add-aware, which I just installed again, and I still log-on automatic http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif so that's not it...

er... the tracking cookie instantly reinstalls every time you log back to UBI. Basically, you use adaware > deleted, go back to UBI > It`s back on again! It basically goes on forever.

Your best bet is just to leave it (omit it from adaware). But it does seem to be there just to allow you to log in without repeating yourself everytime.

I have the cookie, and I have to re-log every time I enter these forums... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

It's used for tracking page usage between pages and the Super Poop forum software ( personal settings and replies )http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif There are 3? or possibly 4 that are added actually. 1 is UBI.com log on and the others are bs page tracking (unseen hit counters) and a few other items like the inter forums tracking etc. I just delete them also http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

It's funny, the other day I downloaded the Ubisoft game software installer. I didn't let it install though after reading the EULA. So the .exe was just sitting in a temp folder... well my anti-virus scanner did it's weekly HDD scan and it flagged the "Setupubi.exe" as a possible virus. Must be some very interesting people writing code up there at Ubi, rofl.

alot of virus scanners will pick up .exe's from lesser known/common software. It's more precautionary. Much like some e-mail scanners will not let any .exe file be downloaded due to the executable listed. But if in a zip file they go through no problem.

You really wanna tick them off get SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard. UBI does use data miners. I removed them all, made sure they are not allowed back and I stay logged in, and surf the pages as well as what I've read stays highlighted....so, jump to your own conclusions as to what they really do. The last time I checked I think I could account about 6 cookies to UBI forums here. And yet some forums only require one....hmmmm. Amazing.
Big money marketing me lads.

Yep, I use Spybot Search & Destroy to immunize against these Ubi cookies. I still log in automatically, forums work fine, but I don't get the cookies any more.

your surprised by that?pestpatrol deals with it for me.cheers

After it was refeuled i climbed in.With many manipulations the mechcanics started the turbines.I followed their actions with the greatest of interest. The first one started quite easily.the second caught fire.In no time the whole engine was on fire.Luckily as a fighter pilot i was used to getting quickly out of the cockpit. The fire was quickly put out.The second plane caused no trouble - Adolf Galland (first time in a ME262)
