View Full Version : Editing Default Campaigns

Some friends of mine and I are trying the early Barbarossa campaigns, and were wondering: Is there any way to change from I-III/JG 1 for the available unit? Y'know, 'cause they never went to Russia, as far as I can tell.

Is there something that can be easily edited, or what?

If you like to fly with some eastern front historical unit choose II.JG52.
Use 109 during whole campaign as that would be historical too.

And yes, sure thing you can select any squadron from the list that is available, if you are talking about dynamic campaigns where you actually decide your planeset and unit.

If you're talking about static other than just flying the missions, there is nothing to do. Unless you wanna mess with FMB.

I think we've settled on multiplayer Moscow '41, right off the installation disc. The only patrol or escort fighter unit that seems available in any of those default campaigns (when in the setup screen) is JG 1.

Color me confused.

That is NGen yes, it has some weird stuff, very limited unit selection.

But TBH.....other than manual edit the affected files in your ongoing campaign, I fail to see what else you can do.

You can manually edit Dgen files to change/edit units, so you should be able to do so with the files affecting Ngen. I will look through the files to see what can be done. I have redone the Dgen files a long time ago and did a lot of things, changing around unit/squadrons was one of them.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Sorry, I just looked at the Ngen folder and it's entirely different that Dgen as far as squadrons go. In Dgen, there are certain squadron files based on nationality, such as 'squadronsDeF.dat', which can easily be altered. No such file type in Ngen, so I would not know what to tell you.

Except this, register over at SimHQ and many in the IL2/FB forum may be able to help you. They are more into the meat of the sim over there, not just the whining about .50 calibers and such. A lot of experts over there, at least there used to be.
