Yes well, it's probably in the next patch wich is out in two weeks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Seriously, I wouldn't know.

The B-29 Cockpit (modelled by KAMI) was rejected by 1C. So you will not see a flyable B-29 in the FB/AEP/PF - series anymore.

is that so? i though he stopped it because of lack of contact with 1C and it was his earlier kondor cockpit that had been rejected

i hadnt heard it had been rejected by 1c, but that they wherent keeping contact with him.

really sad for kami if thats true, the b29 looked good and would have been a great addition http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

After that initial message he said he had been contacted again and that things may move forward.

Oleg said there are supposed to be surprises in the patch/addon. They could be small...they could be big. He's a great guy when it comes to a few small little extras that make it worth it. The B-29 could be one of those....or not. Its really hard to say.

I also heard a rumor that the B-29 would also figure into the equation of the Russian addon pack featuring some what-if aircraft and scenarios for the Russian side. If so...a flyable Tu-4 would take almost no effort at all to reproduce seing as it was a B-29 reproduction right down to the rivets.

I know of at least 15 people locally who would buy this game if it had more flyable 4 engine bombers and 1 C is missing out on a sure bet if they pass this up.

I think it would be worth it to tweak it until it is done right. With our big maps that could put a whole new demention into our sim.

maybe after Fb/PF is passed off to Olegs specially approved third party modders - after BoB is out and in good shape. I'm not tossing my copies aside anytime soon.

Don't despair, folks! After looking at the interior pics I cannot imagine 1C ignoring such high-class modelling work. It'll be taken up, I'm sure.

That's rather sad indeed. probably the cockpit didn't resemble in any way the pictures?

What is an huge aircraft like the Superfortress supposed to do in FB/PF maps, conceived for tactical warfare? Nothing.

yes, just like p51,p47,p38 or any other plane with drop tanks. heck, we all know long range aircraft CANT possibly do shortrange missions, it is alas, impossible http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

its a big shame that the b29 is faster, heavier armed, carries WAY more bombs 3000 vs 20000, but that its long range is stopping it making those short trips to bomb stuff 20miles away http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

but ok, we will use b25's, with there tiny range of 2052km, we can make those short trips, ok so to drop the same tonnage of bombs we go back 7 times, in a slower aircraft aswell, but atleast we can do those short range trips http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

i surpose if we are really clever we could use b29, by taking a looong trip of the map, and bombing our target on the way home http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif!. with strokes of bombing genius like this, ill soon be called bomberingu http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

btw, irl most b29 crews went to sleep after takeoff because there was nothing todo for hours and hours...

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif range means very little in the fp world http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

I'm amazed at how the B-29 outruns so many single engined fighters too! That thing is fast...

We need it...we need it bad http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I might be wrong, but I think the turrets are AI-only - the B-29 had wondrously complex turrets that would be a real pain in the neck to model, and most people don't use the turrets very often. IIRC, the B-29 will only have pilot and bombardier positions... don't hold me to that though.

Hey, if the B-29 can outrun fighters, I'm taking it low-level, with delay fuses, and do some serious vulching!

B-29 had 2 dorsal and 2 ventral turret I think controlled electrically, and the tail turret was controlled manually I believe. Armament was a mixture of .50cal MG and 20mm cannon.
