Sry very bored in work and was wondering...

im mean putting a TB3 spawning at 800kph etc. does it just disintegrate?

or could u spawn in a 262 at 1000kph and 20000k?

i probably should do some work..... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

FMB limits speed for sure... I think its linked to the planes maximum speed.
I never checked alt though... probably limits to 10,000M

That would be sensible

another stupid thing i do with my cack handed FMb skills is unwittingly give bombers right angled flight paths and such....

u can also alter ur starting angle by setting a waypoint very close to the starting one and at a much lower height....

not sure why ud want to tho

Not sure for your question, I'm not mission building expert....

But fairly interesting question is, is it possible to climb to, for example, 500,000m without cheating?

I have saw some guys doing millions. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know one thing, i was able to set carrier speed at 450km/h and take off the fully loaded f4U with engine off just like a harrier.
If engine is on you can try same type of landing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I set Me262 starting speed at 1000Km/h and alt at 17000m.
They were both reduced to the games's theoritical values.
Then I took her up to 17000m alt and 1060Km/h level flight.
Then dived down (invulnerable) and hit the sea at 1800Km/h.
Now I'm sure I heard a bang as I broke the sound barrier http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Really? All ships tend to default to their top speeds once you click your ridiculously high speed in. (This goes for both ships and aircraft) For carriers, depending on type, you are hard-pressed to get them over 60 kph.....

you can alter the speed of the ships by modifieing the mission file in notepad. dunno if it works for anything else then carriers. the same way you can make ships go over land. very useful for landing ships and such, since in fmb they stop at some distance far from the shore.

I used notepad to change the map in one of my missions. I had made it a while back with the Crimea, but it was really a Barents Sea scenario so I swapped it to Murmansk.

The ships were well inland and not visible at all, the attacking bombers dive-bombed nothing in particular and I was about to give up when I noticed masts and funnels - emerging from the hillside! The crafty devils had hidden underground to avoid the air raid!
Or, at least, that's what it looked like http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Cheers!

did i ever tell you guys about the time i got into orbit in this sim. im not even jokeing. i used i think eather the ussr jet or the german jet that the landing gear falls off of after take off. i used no overheat and unlimted fuil. took awhile but i was so high i could not see ground any more and the plane just floated there. i bailed out to see what would happen and the piolet looked like he was falling but after leaveing the room for near 30min i came back and he seemed to be in the same place.

Our squad was playing the online Pacific campaign shortly after PF was released. I was hosting and forgot to pay attention as to which direction the island was in relation to the carrier. I input a course of o degrees for our carrier. The mission started and our carrier sailed up to and then right through an island. Pretty funny.

Von_Zero is correct. You can alter the mission by using Notepad and put in ridiculous values. However, if you open up the mission in the FMB all values will be reset to "correct" values.

Yeah had a play around last night and noticed the default

quite cool that each plane has its own default value- what is this related to?

maximum structural load? or safe speed?

its quite fun to check out the speeds of various planes.

also thinking of designing a coop for me and pal where u already start at 600kph- teaching him the sense in fast bnz

You can edit the starting speed/alt in notepad. At least you used to be able to. Just make a test mission and see.

I´ve been there too...in orbit I mean, but on the other side of earth(IL-2 earth).

In this area(marked w red) on Kuban map one were able to fly through the hill side in beneath the map in the original IL-2.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Happened to me when I ended up below the hill top on the outside map and intead of trying to climb with the crappy IL-2 of those days I decided to crash it against the mountain wall...and ended up inside it, beneath the map. I could see the landscape above me and altimeter showing a minus value http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

What happened to those Avro Tudors then? When they ran out of fuel, they fell towards the centre of the earth and collided with the previous victim at the exact gravitational centre of the planet?

I tried something like this a while ago for a laugh. In QMB I started a La-5 at the highest altitude the game would allow, and flopped about at 10,000 mtrs for a while. Then I decided to go into an outrageous powerdive to see how long the plane would hold together. I got up to some ridiculous speed and the plane started to disintegrate. Both elevators, the rudder and one of the ailerons were ripped off - but then the aircraft itself pulled out of the dive. Lacking elevators, the natural tendency of the airframe to pull up meant that the plane levelled off and started to climb. I found that I still had minimal control of the aircraft, as I could roll with my one remaining aileron and the plane tried to point the nose in whatever direction I rolled to.

Then I decided that I should try to land. A friend of mine who was watching all this laughed out loud at my suggestion, but I was undeterred. At 580kph I lowered my gear, and one of my wheels was immediately ripped from the airframe. I doggedly continued my descent, and landed the remains of my plane - on one wheel - at high speed. It immediately flipped and went bounce, bounce, crunch, sliiiide. Bits flew all over. One wing was ripped off. Eventually the plane came to a halt upside down. My pilot scampered from the wreckage unscathed.

I was overjoyed. I felt a Chuck Yeager-like happiness at pushing the boundaries of the possible and coming away alive. I derided my friend for his lack of faith. His reply:

"I don't think you've survived at all. You are in Soviet Russia and I think you might be considered a Saboteur."

Ah. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

I did exactly the same thing with the I-16 back in the version 1 days, I think! Powerdive from 10km results in only one aileron, but I managed to land it using roll and the throttle. I saved the track, but don't know if it will play on our enlightened version 4 systems...

you can make some gross changes in notepad... but you have to play the mission from the single mission tab...
some of the wild stuff gets re-set if the mission is opened in the FMB

trains and ships going off rails/overland don't though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
