Well, the AEP finally made it to the UK and the first aircraft I jumped into was the Gladiator.

I know it's been said before, but the interior and exterior modelling of the Gladiator is just extraordinary. As good as anything in Lock On, which is the highest praise possible.

Well done Capt.!

If you're ever passing through Bath, then I have a pint with your name on it waiting for you.

Regards,

RocketDog.

PS - now all I need to do is to find a Russian aircraft slow enough for my Finnish Gladbag to catch.

Yes, in my excitement with AEP, I forgot to mention the Gladiater. It`s a work of art, you can almost smell the age in that cockpit. For some reason, the little ancient clock ticking away in the dash is almost like a sign going back in time! I MUST do a character picture of that plane!

Amazing work, Mr. Haddock!

You haven't lived until you jump in that Gladiator and do a 1 vs 1 against an I-153, let me tell you! Whew!

You won't clear the birth canal until you turn on CR.42 cockpit lights.

Blimey! Thanks guys. I'm definitely up for a pint http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Agreee with Lexx Luthor. The Cr.42 is also brilliant (thanks Xanty!) I really enjoy the challenge of flying in the cockpit. Is like being inside a letter box http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Indeed, a great work of art in this plane. Makes me sad that the cockits in FB aren't skinnable. I spend most of my time inside the planes, and having such attention to detail is wonderful.

How do you "jump" into the Gladiator. I have AEP but the Gladiator is listed as an AI nonflyable plane. Am I missing something?

The version that is flyable is the J8A swedish conversion of the gladiator to fit their needs (mainly, a Gladiator MkII with somecockpit adjustments). The game considers it "axis" since it flew for the finns, so it's way down the list.

Thanks for the answer, shipmate.

I agree that the CR-42 is done visually well but to fly her is not so hot. She is outclassed by everthing else in the game, including the P11-C!!
Won't turn very well for a biplane and it's pitifully undergunned.

Ok, on second thought I take that back!! I decided to give her another chance so I set up QMB 1 on 1, CR.42 against an ace I-16. In the merge he killed one on my machine guns but I was able to set him ablaze with just the one by itself after a long knife fight. And it did seem it turned pretty well after all.

I flew the Gladiator for the first time last night and I have to say she is beautiful.

The cockpit looks amazing - you can almost smell the wear and tear.

Another pint from me Haddock - are you ever anywhere near Southampton?

I think Haddock is sorted for the next 10 years as far as drinks are concerned in Britain. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
