Yes, yes, but collectively, we're still the world's favourite nation. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Besides we're going to win the World Cup this year - unless the Germans pull the old 'cancelled due to bird flu' trick. I kid you not, it's already been mooted...

Hi, Panther!

Look, it's quite simple. If an English athlete wins a medal in the Olympics, it's a great English victory. If a Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish athlete wins, it's a victory for Great Britain - or the United Kingdom. At least that's the way the BBC see it. And if you can't trust 'Auntie Beeb', well I dread to think... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Likewise, the Australian, Trinidad & Tobago, and even the USA football teams in this year's World Cup contain a very high proportion of UK based players - should these teams go on a winning run it will be 'Liverpool's Harry Kewell' - not Australia's. Of course should these teams get knocked out early, it will just convince us that they aren't up to English standards.

It gets complicated when the Irish are involved, as according to Irish stipulations, your great-great-grandmother waving a flag at the Inniskillens as they boarded a ship in Southampton for the Crimea makes you eligable to play for Ireland. However, we are spared the delights of watching the 'Not quite good enough for England XI' this year as they didn't qualify (neither did Scotland btw http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif )

Finally, I must draw attention to the 'Braveheart' extras who seemed to be part of the official Scottish pre-match entertainment. This has set a dangerous precedent. The Scottish Rugby Union has only itself to blame should there be morris dancers next year at Twickenham whipping the English up into a frenzy.

Oh enough of your taunting, I can't take it. Anyway, it's IN-GUH-LUUUUND and thank duck I don't live in Scotland anymore.

Have the post match pee tests demonstrated our players were knobbled by massive doses of Estrogen hidden in their deep fried Mars Bars yet?
