but that P47 puzzles me.

I see it in Hyperlobby sired games being flung around like the proverbial Zero. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

i didnt realise it was a stall fighter.

be it my feeble stick abilities, but i had real trouble fighting it vertically with a late model 109.

its just unbelievably slippery for such a steam engine sized chunk of aeroplane, i reckon its quicker than the mustang?

is this the case for any1 else?

it never ceases to amaze me what a good P-47 pilot can do with that plane.
i personally tend to die in near ground stalls http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

While lacking in the rocket-like climb department, the Jug was a zoom and boom type aircraft. It was quite well streamlined, and capable of greater level speeds at high alts than all Allied prop a/c but the Spit XIV in 1945.

Properly flown, it is a formidible opponent.

The Jug can be flown very effectively if you use energy tactics and stick to higher altitudes. Use hit and run tactics much like in the Focke Wulf. Find your target, dive, shoot and away. When manuevering to get onto your targets tail after a dive, I try to make no more than a quarter of a turn. If the attack was successful great, if not, climb away. Don't stick around. Zoom climb to get your altitude and energy back. Find your opponent again and dive.

My guess is, you would need to keep your altitude and speed. Don't follow anyone down to the deck or you will get flamed! Especially if your flying against a 109 or Zero. Stay at altitude, pick a target, dive down on him, then go straight back up while you've still got your speed.

Watch out for....its mirror. One of its best features. Its roll is pretty good to, you can jink and get 109's off your tail at any height.

Its not a stall fighter, but its a good turner at high speeds and the P-47 can get to a high speed in a dive really quickly.

Maybe thats what you're seeing. I just tried in 3.04...turns like always...better than a FW190 but worse than most other aircraft. Depends on the speed...thats a HUGE factor.
