OK fess up people!

You wanna talk immersion!?

How many of you have been happily winging your way through the virtual skies late at night with a buddy or a squad-mate or two.

The wife and kiddies all tucked away sleeping peacefully. The house is quiet and dark and I've got my headphones on.

I'm formed up with a buddy in a loose deuce and we are across the fence and into indian territory.

Out of the sun comes screaming in two bandits with guns blazing!

I scream, "BREAK! BREAK! into teamspeak and throw it into a high yo-yo as I punch off my external tanks.

My wingy has instinctively gone into the opposite hand low yo-yo.

perfect.... Unfortunately for me they have locked onto my tail and it's gonna take some fancy dancing to stay alive until my wingy can pull angles and get a deflection shot.

I'm turning... I'm swooping... Probably even breathing hard as I look over my shoulder at the bad guys about to go guns-guns-guns.

I'm yelling for encouragement to my wingy who's about to spray the lead bad guy.

It's gonna be close!

I look back over my horizontal stab and see the enemies guns winking at me. My headphones echo with the sounds of rounds impacting on my ship.

Then I get hit in the back of the head.

Literally.... I get hit in the back of the head.

I came about six inches off my chair staight up!

I turn around to see my wife in her starkers with an annoyed look on her face. Her mouth is moving very quickly but of course I can't hear her because of the combat chatter on teamspeak.

I lift one earphone away from my head, "Eh?"

Seems she cuffed me because I'd awoke her with all my yelling and screaming.

Being the dove that she is she tried nicely to tell me to "shut it", but seems I didn't hear her because of the headphones. So she got my attention the old fashioned way!

Who needs force feedback!

ROTFL!

Been there done that.. but the worst part is as she is yelling at you she is staring at the TrackIR dot on my forhead with that strange, yet, mad look on her face, which turns into a smile and she shakes her head and walks away.. Which makes you feel even worse. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Had a similar experiance...when we flew VFC*COOPs. I had problems with the mic... guys couldn`t hear me at all. So as we flew i kept repeating "Guys, do you hear me, anyone? Over" Then i recieved a nice smack in the head.... i turned around and there she was.... as angry as she could be.... i took my headset off.... and heard following "They can`t hear you, get it? Fix your @$#$ mic that might help you @#$%@#$@# dummy!!" The she looked at the clock... and it got alot worse... ouch.

That would go a long ways in explaining your "wobbles" problem now wouldn't it?

defrag
RMA wife
defrag
delete a random file from your harddisk

First time I used comms, I received some funny looks from the family members.

Apparently they found it amazing that a grown up civilian man shouts military jargon into the PC in front of him, while shaking a joystick on the desk... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (Yes, this IS funny, I agree.)

Another friend of mine declined to use voice comms once, explaining that his wife asked her not to use comms, because she could not hear the TV set well enough http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

what has always impressed me is their impecable timing of when they choose to bug you. they seem to have a six sense to know when you are at the height of an engagement and then, when you are the most focused, "umm...dear...you're too loud." or they request some task be done at that very instant.

my cockpit is on stilts...so she has to climb up to hit me..rather than doing that, she shakes the cockpit loft/legs violently. talk about turbulence.

I know the situations, I am using headpones somtimes my selves when it is late.
It is not musch you can hear from the outher world.
When the situation grows heavy be werry quick to hit the pause button ore else you will crash to the ground when trying to explain whay you dont hear thr roar from the real world.

But my wife bought me the X45 on her owen, I just mentioned it would be nice to have.
