Does anybody know of any links to some I-185 skins? This is not a popular plane to skin apparently and since IL2skins went down I have not been able to find any.

Ahhh... one of my fave planes... but it's almost never on any servers.

I found 2 skins posted on simhq.com last month. A light green/beig and an olive green skin. I can't remember the name of the skin site, but it's a fairly decent one.

Post your email and I'll send them to you.

Cheers,

I think the I-185 is a blast to fly but it probably is a little too uber for online stuff. I just fly coops with a friend and we put our planes up against higher numbers of A.I. to make it interesting. It really has about the best combination of attributes for any fighter in the game.

Thanks for the skins. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I-185 is outflown by a good Mk. VIII, CW or regular wing to name one of the Spitfires that I regularly beat I-185s with. Also, La-7 (faster). Be sure. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

My only issue with an I-185 in open DF servers is that it's damage model is a bit dubious since V4.01, especially from dead six.

Other than that I love the 3 stage supercharger and flying it once in awhile online. I just don't see it as uber, except when included in historic matchups of same year.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I laugh at that because, for what it's worth, the last two patches are an interesting diversion from the peace and harmony we had with 3.04m.

I love the new improvements in FM realism and gunnery corrections, and just stating my observations, but some individual planes, I think, were uniquely affected by the new changes. Some may have had these issues before, but it didn't become apparent until the FM was expanded further to include more physics in V4.01 and V4.02.

Just a passing thought from a busy day today.

Hey, nice La7-R.

Oh wait, that is our current La-7. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Actually, after a week or so with V4.02m, La-7 is still beaten by Mk VIII CW, but the La-7 seems endless in energy retention when zoom climbing.

Badsight.

& the I-185 can hi-speed walk all over Spitfires , any of them at any alt

& since when ? v4.01 ? LOL !
more like since the day we got the I-185 it has been a Flying Tank DM wise

the only thing the I-185 isnt totally dominant in is in low-speed/low-alt turn tightness , seriously there is NOTHING to not like about the way the I-185 performs .

its a much bigger joke than v3.04 Spitfires ever were

Wow, thanks, those skins are absolutely stunning!

The I-185 is one of my (off-line) favourites. It is really pleasant to fly, it's one of those planes where the sheer delight of flying around is as great as combat. Also, the three nose-mounted cannons are wonderful for those nasty, turn fight snapshots.

Acually, I'd love to see I185 with ASh82 (NOT with M71) engine on online servers in appropriate planeset ('43) ASh82 was quite reiable engine at that time and it won't be more uber then La5F/FN.

Oops, yes, not an La-7. I looked quickly last night and was getting sleepy.

As for the DM, I've only noticed it's increase since V.401. One of the tell-tale signs something changed in that plane is more online sightings since V4.01. The performance or DM must have gotten better. It was hardly used in V3.04m on servers I was on that had it in the list and I don't remember it ever being this durable. Your mileage may vary. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I have no problem with I-185s right up to 5,000m using a Mk. VIII. The CW version rolls faster than the I-185 and I always force the scissors aginst them, knowing they will not be able to get their nose around.

My experience has never shown the I-185 to be as uber in an open server as it is in historic ones. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

that surprised me, coming from you, badsight (mr 20-20http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

i have thought you would champion the I 185, given many of our "dicussions" in past, lol

i know, i know, just cuz you like seeing anything that faced a stiff breeze into the game (and even those that didnt technically existhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) doesnt mean you cant be realistic about certain types http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif...those that really are a joke

"but comrade stalin! these new i 185s will clear the skies of fascist flyers, without question! it will save many, many of our pilots and in turn, save many, many of our glorious red army troops! it is clear to be an example superior product of soviet ingenuity for all to see! it will outclass anything the germans have, or will have for almost two years...and put to shame those decadent western running dog planes of the US and Britain! why on earth have you cancelled it?

"the pilots are reluctant to use the throttle lever; a great weakness that cannot be revealed to the world..besides, the designer is an icky poo-head who likes trotsky's philosophies more than mine http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif..."

"makes perfect sense, comrade!"

i wish every type in FB was "flown by the grandfather of a friend of Oleg's" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

its FM is proven, after 1000's made, and countless millions of flight-hours the FM/DM is rock-solid and totally believeable and legit

the ghey thing is just a rumour though.......
