Just wondering. Also have you ever tried to go through the English Channel? I tried when I first got the sim but Wow! The Brits don't like that!

My first ever patrol after I bought the game was to a sector West of the English channel. The problem with that was I was in a IIA and stationed East of the channel ((wilhelmshavenlandtown)hehehe). To go around the North was outta the question due to range so I started a carefull trek through the channel. I made it through and back with plenty close calls but it was 1939 and I wouldnt dare make that trip later in the war. It was hairraising even in 39'

No, I've never been hit by a sinking ship, but I do try to keep at 500m distance between me and any ship, so that's probably why.

And yes, I've done the English Channel route. It is a little nerve wracking sometimes, and other times, it's a breeze getting through. It all depends on how you go through, what time you go through, weather conditions, and most importantly, the date you go through. It's pretty easy to avoid the British warships/patrol boats in the early stages of the war. Later on in the war, not such a good idea taking the channel, unless you're looking for some action. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I was hiding under a T-3, waiting for the escorts to forget about me. I kept an eye on it through my O-scope when to my horror it capsized. I was just about 10 Meters under it and did manage to escape without getting my rudders caught in the rigging.

As for the channel dash, i've dine it a few times, only got sunk once. Depth charged in 30 Meters of water. I try to stick towards the northern coast of France.

I'll have to try the channel again. 1943

I wasn't hit by a sinking ship but another player on my server was and I was lucky enough to get a screenshot of it. His original intention was to fire a salvo from his forward tubes and then dive under the carrier in order to fire two more from his aft tubes. Unfortunately, as seen in the pic, the carrier sunk at the precise moment that he was halfway under its keel. Sadly, I missed getting a screenshot of what happened a few seconds after this was taken, but, then again, you probably wouldn't have believed it unless you saw it with your own eyes like we did.

As you can see in the picture, about the only thing still above water was the flight deck. As the carrier began to take on more water, it slowly decended downward and his submarine shot rapidly up through the hull of the carrier and continued until it was about 10 to 20 meters above the surface of the water, hovered there horizontally for a second or two, then dropped back down into the water and sank to the bottom right next to the creaking and groaning wreakage of the sunken carrier. Very bizarre!
