View Full Version : Standalone Pacific Fighters Guys

For those who do not have all of the games in the series I will begin hosting on Hyperlobby tommarrow night around 7pm est.

I was not sucessful in hosting at UBI behind my router. And I am up to my neck with it.

I tried everything I know. I even went as far as setting the box up on DMZ with Zone Alarm running. (Free version http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) I went through the programs and allowed everything pertaining to UBI and PF still no dice. I could connect from my other machine through UBI but noone else could.

I did not want to run run in DMZ without my firewall running. So the heck with that.

I opened a room in Hyperlobby. First time there. I didn't realize that my callsign would be the name of the room. I will try to change that to represent the standalone version of PF.

From what I read in their forums only 2 ports are required to be opened. 21000 UDP (PF) and 1698 TCP thats a whole lot better than the UBI mess.

Unfortunatly noone attempted to join my server http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I asked in chat and was told that I would have a hard time finding anyone with a standalone version of PF in there.

Are you guys out there? There are normally 60 players or so in UBI. I talked with several guys tonight trying to get there servers online with no luck.

For those who do not know. You can make a copy of your PF exe and rename it to il2fb and Hyperlobby will let you in.

The PF exe will most likely only be named PF with an icon that looks like your shortcut. When you rename it do not add the .exe extension to il2fb. Hyperlobby will not see the file then. (didn't on my 2 anyway).

So anyone with me here? Comeon you N00bs http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I have about 5 online kills so far so you are probably way ahead of me. I normally spend the whole night Jinking (just learned that term)

The server name will be ethier "BackWoods" or I will find a callsign that will represent the standalone install of PF. My callsign is N9493K.

I am a rookie host at PF and Hyperlobby so bare with me.

I will try to host 16 If it doesn't work we will go with 8.

If you plan on being a pain in the butt to the other players please stay away. Or the next thing I will be asking is how to ban someone http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Server is located in Florida USA.

That about covers it

G' day

Good on you for setting up a stand-alone. I've got three installs - FB + AEP, PF, and FB + AEP + PF. Wanted to play PF alone so I could get a feel for all the new content, but had to make the latter install after not being able to find any stand-alone servers through ASE.

There will be a lot of disappointed first-time buyers when they find out that there is nowhere to play online at all.

It will be a dogfight server.

Settings are custom, inbetween realistic and normal. take offs and landings enabled.

I do not have a good feel for what settings people want. I have played different ways. I played on a server the other night where you didn't have to take off. It was a alot of fun, not much on the realism scale but fun non the less.

Make your suggestions here. I will set it up how the majority wants it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Don't care too much for the CEM but that's just because I haven't messed with it yet.

So I will roll with the flow.

I have seen alot of cheating messages on different servers. Is it cheating or just a bug in the game?

I hope it isn't cheating I will sour real quick if it is.

See you tonight

Also, without the dedicated server software, you may want to limit the number of players to 16 or less. Most of the online rooms right now are lag-fests.

Its going to be the same memory leak. It'll just maybe take you 2 extra minutes to reach...

Wait for the almighty patch and hope... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'll mention it over there in the UBI standalone lobby, and send some folks over there to your server, and we will probably do the same, we being myself and the TX guys. We are hanging out over there to sort of help some of the newer folks get set up. Sadly only one of us can host over there. That started over a year ago and it doesn't look like UBI plans to fix it anytime soon. If you unplug your router and all that you may be able to host there. In the end HL is the simple solution, you just have to get the new folks over there.

So from your login ID I guess you fly a Stinson? Or is that just a coincidence?
