.... have MG151 cowl guns and a MK103 centerline gun? Just about every web site one visits and books one reads have these weapons as fitted to the K-4.

Because that stuff won't fit in the 109K's cowling.

It needed bulges to fit 13mm machine guns in the cowling of the BF109.

I dont think it would be possible to fit 2xMg151

Also I would be surprised if a Mk103 would fit into the centre mount. The Mk103 was a VERY VERY heavy weapon for a fighter.

I have few books, none of which lists Bf-109K-4 to have Mk103 fitted in nose. Mk108 is what they say.

The MK 103mot was only meant for later 109K variants, ie. K-8, which were not built before the war ended. The MK 103mot (a modified version of the MK 103 with a narrower front to fit into the blast tube) was definitely possible, as were either MK 108s or alternatively MG 151/20s in the wing, but the 'MG 151 cowl guns' were never meant for any variant. Its most likely a misread from MG 131 (ie. 3 misread as 5) from GLC datasheets.

The MG 151 might fit into the cowling, but it would an extremely tight fit. The problem is not with the diameter (nota bene, the bulges on the MG 131 it was not required for the gun itself, but because of the the revised ammo belt tunnels, the 13mm guns themselves were very compact and pretty much the same size of the previous MG 17s), but with the length of the gun; its placement would be dictated by the placement of the ammo feed and ammo boxes.

I did some overlays (although it was flawed and I placed the gun a bit further back than possible), and it shows that either the butt of the guns stick out into the cockpit or at least be in a very intimate relationship with the back of the cocpit instrument.

I have never understood the "new log on". Why not just take responsibility for your actions instead of trying to hide behind the internet by getting a new log on.

am i mistaken, or can't you fit the K with 151 gun pods?? I know there are gun pods just cant remember off hand which ones.

The stock nose guns are also pretty powerful. They do the job, if that's what you're getting at.

The mk103 was really an anti armor weapon anyway .. overkill against aircraft, the faster ROF mk108 or even 20mm make more sense against planes.

Want are you hunting that needs an mk103 ??

You can fit the entire 109G lineup with MG151/20 gunpods yes. Everything above the G-2 has the ability to fit MK108 gunpods as well.

The MK103 is a much larger cannon...not to be confused with the MK108.
