View Full Version : What's all of this new-fangled 1946 stuff??? Patch 4.09??

12-27-2007, 09:12 PM
I haven't touched IL2 in like a year or two, nice that this place is still alive!

I have an easy semester coming up as it's my last before graduation and I've exhausted most of the courses I can take towards my degree, so I was thinking of getting back into the sim for a while, but then I come here and there's all this stuff about some 1946 UFO patch.

What do I need to do/download to catch up?
What's really changed since PF?
How is La7?
What about my beloved Focke-Wulfs??
Where is the infamous Megile? And the good sir, rsm? What about the town fools, Danjama and AI-Male? Mondo, CrazyIvan, Sparks, Leadspitter, Pappy and the rest of the crew; are people still around?
What is new best?

And most importantly---

You nice?

Good to see you again

I just got off school for a good couple of months. I'm in the states right now but i'll be back in costa rica in a couple of weeks and I think i'll be going to get back in the game as well and there's some interesting people coming back!

What you need to get is the IL2 Sturmovik 1946 DVD, the 4.08m patch (and I dunno if there'll be a new 4.09 out by now) and you're set.

The new jets are ufo, the la7 is still russian and the focke wulfs are still uber!

4.09 beta is out since this morning.

Fish, find yourself a copy of the IL2 1946 DVD set.
There's a download version but try reinstalling that after a crash.

Ahh my comrade of old, rsm!

It's good to have received a first response from you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So I don't have to worry about downloading 1,000,000 patches like before? That's excellent, it's about time!

Where and what in the states, by the way?
Let me know when you're set up to fly again, my email is the same as my MSN screename. I look forward to shooting down many unsavory people with you at my wing.

Until then, may the rosy fingertips of dawn continue to warm you in all of your endeavors.

WalMart was carrying it for $20 this summer. I haven't seen it there lately however. GameStop and EB Games, places like that, probably carry it.

Hit this link (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/4591089933/r/4591089933#4591089933) for the skinny on 46 and bear in mind that the version in this thread is not patched and some stuff may be missing from what you will ge6t if you get 46 and patch it to 4.09.

Things to catch up on.

FW190 is hopeless in the game, so you can only fly Allied (when I'm online) at Warclouds.....please..... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif

Just kidding, good to see you back.

Mate so many things for this great game.

Add-ons "The Last Days", "Ostfront", "Battle over Europe".

All the latest Enjoyr patches.Just in-case you don't know here's a link (as it's not in Bearcat's Nuggets Guide):

IL2 Stab 6.3

Just loads of stuff mate, best place to look is here:

and this is the second place you should visit:

Bearcat posted a 'Nugget's Guide', which I know you're not, but it does list a lot of the stuff available now, give it a look, don't worry though, the 190 still has all it's killing power, especially in the right hands.

Cheers, MP.

Hey fish dude. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

This is a good time to dip your toes in again...be sure. Just do whatever you need to do to get up to the new best (4.08m official, 4.09B1m unofficial) and you're set. Not sure what version you capped at before your hiatus, but the 1946 DVD that has already been mentioned will put you at version 4.07 and you'll need the 4.08 patch. Backup a few files and DL the 4.09 beta (and don't forget the new default skin pack DL that goes with it!).

See ya around eh.

Just saw 2 copies of IL2:1946 at Best Buys (3 hours ago) for $19.95 (or 19.99....).

Fish be sure to know that as of the 4.01 version that rudder is very important whereas before
the FM sort of helped. There was lots of wailing, be sure.

hi fish , wondered where you had got to - look forward to seeing you back on warclouds

I've looked all over the place and no one carried IL-2 1946. They DID however carry CFS3, so that's what I'm using now. Goodbye suckers!!!

Actually, I'm kidding; it was hard to find but I managed to find it at best buy. It came with no manual though! That's a big let-down to me, half the fun is in the manual!

12-29-2007, 07:08 PM
The manual is on a PDF file on the DVD or in your game folder.

12-29-2007, 07:16 PM
Fear not Fish there are some very substantive PDF's with plane guides and all the other goodies.
You'll find them in your IL2 folder.
