As amatter of interest, can anyone tell me which Coastal Command squadrons flew the hurricane. I've looked at a lot of sources but can't find any reference.

I think an Avro Anson doing the anti sub work would have been more appropriate.

As far as I am aware, the Hurricane was never used by Cooastal Command.

The Hurricane was used as a plane to be catapulted off ships modified with a catapult. The Hurricane was used to attack and drive off any Luftwaffe recon/bomber flights aimed at convoys. Once the Hurricane ran out of fuel the pilot would ditch his plane near the convoy and then be rescued.

This measure wasn't at all very effective and was later abandoned when the first escort carriers appeared.

The M-a-l-l-a-r-d = ALSO NOT A UBOAT HUNTER!!

Lets hope this helps avoid any air attacks from inapropriate aircraft in SH4 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Seriously though Hurricanes sank precisley ZERO U-boats in WW2!
The Hurricane wasnt use to hunt uboats at all because:

It couldnt carry any bombs (until late war) I think it would take a hell of alot of 0.303" calibre bullets to sink a Uboat. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It was never radar equiped.

It had crappy range.

It was far to valuable as a fighter to send out in drones to comb the ocean for submarines.

The Anson was used early war, it was outdated and lousy - I dont think it succesfully sunk any uboats either. Its replacements, the Hudson and beaufighter did a much better job and were the staple aircraft of coastal command from 1940 onwards, yet neither of them are present in SH3

But in SH4 I will not be suprised to be atacked by a Zero. I belive it was used as a sub hunter. And I bleive it knowing how dumb the Japs are.
