Me and a bud were flying around on the new Slovakia map last night, it looks absolutely awesome. No other maps before 4.09 come close.

At times it looked almost real. What amazes me is how good this game can look, but I read that the guys who did this won't make another map, as it was just too big a project.

How does this bode for BoB, will we see maps this good in the new engine or do we need to be happy that we have at least seen the quality possible through selfless devotion?

For me, flying on a map of the quality of Slovakia adds to the immersion in a huge way.

Salute Slovakia map makers!

The other day I flew around the map at (no more then) 20 meters off the ground. I few over hill and dale, I went down into the valleys and up over the mountain sides...incredible. To anyone who feels the "wonder" to try and fly around at tree top level, I say do it...the view is incredible...I was always wondering what lay just beyond the next hill, around the next bend, and over the next mountain range. A fascinating amount work when into the making of this new map (excellent detail)...it is a wonder.

I would agree that this map adds to the "immersion" factor of this game (90% more immersion by volume LOL)

My hat goes off to the makers... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

It's the small details like fences and clothes lines that make the towns seem lived-in. Also I think the structure of the towns is more natural than we have seen before, with houses aligned in a realistic way with the streets. Usually FB towns have houses randomly spread out, even near the centres of towns. I hope Oleg realises the significance a well structured town model has on the immersion factor. I would much prefer to see a few well made towns in the game than lots of poorly modelled ones. The level of detail doesn't really have to be that great, they should just look more natural.

I hope we get this (Slovakia map) level of detail built into the game with BoB, though I understand that it means a lot of time and work to get it looking that way. If not, I certainly hope that some dedicated mission builder will make a good job of working with the smaller maps that Oleg said would be included in BoB for third party (and user) development.
