What I would like to have is a movable monitor.Like when you look to your left it goes there along with the image on the screen http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I guess a pair of VR goggles is easier or a track ir for that matter.I tried that program when you use your webcam, although I got tired in my eyes so I gave it up.
I guess POV hat is good for me,for now at least.

- bought it for LOMAC
- couldn't get used to it in IL2
- thought about selling it, because I rarely play LOMAC any more
- now I use it in IL2 most of the time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

It's still TrackIR1, but I still use it,yes.

Just got TrackIR2 from a fellow simmer who did not like it. Still getting used to it, the hardest thing is not moving fwds or bkwds too much as I did previously when I would use mouse view.

I do like it though. SA seems to be improved, but I'm still making flying mistakes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Seems like a nice toy, but cost is prohibitive. Also there seems to be a pretty steep learning curve and there are constraints. Like having to sit still, wear flashy stickers, complicated setup, and lighting. All and all, I think the mouse cursor + POV hat on my X45 dose the job nicely.

Also love it, but I am surprised at how easily I re-adapt to not having it on a computer without TrackIR. Thus I regard it as a bonus, but not essential.

the key to the whole setup is to not move to much in your seat, setup a good dead band , start with a slower sensitivity then with time and practice crank it up.

I'm sorry for the ones that can't have it, but my solution when i got it was that i had to use it because there are no other way. That way i sticked with it, felt like i had to relearn to fly again.
When i fly now i do not move in my chair like before. or maybe some have a ***** in their A**.

Track ir is not an advantage ( far from it ) but a immersion tool , and it's soooOOOOO GGGOOOOODDD.

good to hear the inputs guys.

ITS REALLY easy to set up, for those that feel like its too much work. you have maybe two settings to save to a profile at very first (like i have my trak-ir set up behind me, so i had to invert an axis, and save it)After that, its maybe 2 or 3 more settings you have to adjust in several small increments and thats really about it.just fine tuning. (also, you DONT have to sit rigid like a stone.. only at first it FEELS that way, after a few days, small movements that you innadvertently add in, just feels more of the part that you are in cockpit. you just feel like you have to be a stone, because your not used to the FREEDOM!!

i found it daunting at first ..but after about 10 whole minutes of looking at the software settings, it was very easy.

what helped me was to try each of the (5...?) pre made profiles, i found the one i liked, and tweaked it. its not for every single person, but once you find a profile, and stick with it for a day or 2...even when its shaky a bit, your hooked.

it wont make you a better shot. none. but it will help out critical situations where intense scissor, immelman, or whatever action, and you need to consistantly track a fast moving target very close in proximity.

Don't have it but may get it in the future if they ever perfect it (i.e. keep it from being a royal pain in the ***). Mouse view and POV hat for me works good enough and doesn't make wallet suffer.

Dedicated Track IR3 Pro user since labour day weekend. It took a couple of evenings of adjusting the profile and acclimatisation to the sensation of free head movement - nothing more strenuous or complicated than setting up a good HOTAS profile. Come to think of it my HOTAS profile took a lot longer to get it where I was happy with it. Would never fly without one again. If it breaks I'm toast.

Yep. Have it and love it.

For those who have been thinking about buying, but have been put off by cost, you can buy TIR2 on closeout for $69.00 here:

I have it,I love it.
No trouble using it
Needs a good profile like-- General_Purpose_Profile_777_Burnin_AVG or
BM357_TrackIR_One_Profile_1
Must have good deadband
Must be in enhanced(absolute) motion mode.
You can have my joystick before my TIR.

I use the original TIR with IR emitter but it hasn't made me a better shot .. improves situational awareness though.

It's over 2 years since I bought TIR ONE.
Still have it, and it works F-I-N-E!

Best piece of hardware I've EVER bought.

It's not hard to set up at all.

Put it this way. I WON'T FLY WITHOUT IT. Serious. If my Track IR breaks I WON'T fly without a new one. I can't think of anything more unnatural than going BACK to a mouse view. No WaY!

To me the idea of a simulation is to get get the most realistic, immersive experience I can for my technology $$. Track IR does that better than HOTAS.... better than pedals....and OH SO CLOSE to better than a flight stick.

A flight stick is the only way to fly a sim....the only way to experience a sim is with Track IR.

regards,
Robert

Once you go Track.... you NEVER go back.

Yeah, I've had Track-IR 3 Pro for about 3 months now. Was expensive, but well worth it. Put in big deadbands for initial use though. It takes awhile to get used to, but that passes. Is a great device, it has cured me of using the padlock and an "unco" like me was always to slow and clumsy to use the mouse.

Purchased my TIR 3 Pro this summer. Yes, expensive and I had to sneak the purchase past the wifey http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, but really adds to the immersion of the game. Great for no-icon play and groundpounding.

It wasn't difficult to setup or adjust from using my old trusty hatswitch. If you can afford picking it up, and willing to take the time to get it running properly, I believe one will be very happy with the product.
