I know the switch is on the dash. What is its function? Does it turn on the camera or does it arm the camera? Is the camera activated by pressing the trigger button?

The gun camera switch armed the gun camera. Once the switch was placed in the "on" position, the gun camera would activate when the the gun trigger was pressed.

Are you building a Corsair sim-pit?

Neg, wish I was!

Now I'm confused, you are going to add a switch to your panel, but in IL2 it's a non-functional switch, but you are not building a sim pit. Building a scale model?

So far I can not figure out how to do it.

Make a macro... and tie it into your gun and the quick record.

Got it Bear!

I used SVMapper. I mapped the gun trigger button on the joystick to weapons 1&2. I also mapped button F12 which is frapps record command. In SVMapper I programmed F12 as (mapped key on press, repeat 1)and (Mapped key on release, repeat 2). This gives me record on trigger press and stop record on trigger release.

Now this is how I use it. I record all missions. While I review the footage, if there is something I like, I can at any time...in any view, pull the trigger and record the recorded film...lol!

What I have not done is program the toggle "ARM" switch for the guncam.
