In case you have always thought the footage of Ju 88s attacking the destroyer in IN WHICH WE SERVE was real (as I have for 40 years), scroll down towards the bottom to discover the truth. Astounding.

That's a great site. Great models and so evocative of the era. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Truly, Hollywood did not have model makers which even approached this level of realism. I never once suspected the footage of the Ju 88 attack to be done with models. I thought they were using the Ju 88A-5 captured in the B of Brit for those scenes.

Great link. I should like to try and make some of the paper ones that are on the net, if only I had more time.

Also I was reminded of this bit of chicanery using models during the war.

From a Midshipman's War page. 91

"McGill says that war correspondents Ronnie Noble of the BBC and the American Larry Allen of Associated Press, came aboard to do a story. It happened that this was the one time that they weren't attacked. On the return leg, the newspapermen were getting so frustrated that they prevailed upon the captain to cooperate so that they could take some phoney photographs. It was explained that they would be used with true stories picked up from the crew. Depth charges were dropped and some oil thrown into the water to indicate that a submarine might have been sunk. Also the little German aircraft models which were kept onboard for aircraft recognition training were hung by thin wire above the bridge so that they looked as if they were attacking the ship."

Nice find...I was surprised some years ago when I found out that some of the air sequences seen in the movie "Battle of Brittan" wher done with models...

I have always admired Rojas Bazan's (http://www.rojasbazan.com/index.html) work...

I wish I could afford one...

Thanks for the web page.
