Guess what? Confused? So was I at the beginning.

As some of you know, every year at Kirchheim/Teck (Good old Germany) they have a oldtimer show. It started on Friday, and it just so happens that I work just down the hill (really, the airfield is above were I work) from this place. At lunch we were standing outside of the factory and saw a Cessna pulling a very strange aircraft. Strange indeed, it was a Me-163!!!!!!!!!!!!! No chit, a Me-163 Komet!!!

If you Google Oldtimer Treff 2009 you will se what planes are there. Sadly I must work these 3 days and can't make it this year http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif. But a co-worker of mine who is a Volunteer Fireman will take a few pictures, so hopefully I can post a few later on this week, or in 2 weeks (be sure).

That is EADS.
It's a me163 in appearance only. It has nothing else in common with the me163. Even in appearance there are quite large differences.

There was a real one on static display in the Australian War Memorial the last time I was in there. Also a Me262, a Bf109, a Lancaster, Mosquito, P-40, Zero, MiG15 and a few others.

Yes, we are all quite aware of that. Every time someone post some pics of a 109, 190, 262, ect flying some people feel they have to constantly remind us that they are not the real deal. We know! No need to suck the fun out of it!

a Cessna pulling a very strange aircraft.

Maybe the Komet was pushing the Cessna. You never know.

Whenever I take someone who doesn't know a lot about planes to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force, I always take them over to the Komet. I show them the sign showing the top speed of 596mph and then I point to the little propeller and ask them to imagine how fast that little thing needs to spin to get the plane going that fast. I fool most people with that little joke. Of course, I eventually tell them it really is rocket propelled.

I thought the 262, 109 and 190 remakes where
quite close to the real deal. Same airfrane
plans etc.
No?
