Hi all.

I´m currently flying a stock dynamic campaign for the usmc in the pacific (FB/AEP/PF 3.04m).

I have "no instant success" turned off, but this doesn´t seem to work in scramble missions, when flying those I can only move on to the next mission when I end the mission after landing my plane.

It´s pretty annoying when you put up a good fight against some 20 bettys, 10 zekes and some hamps or something similar with your poor four little wildcats, maybe getting two or three kills (good for me...),then having to bail right over your own friendly airfield but not getting the "apply" button, only "refly"... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

It´s even more annoying to have to fly the same mission over and over again (that´s why I was so happy about the "no instant success"-option)
because you just can´t kill them all and they won´t let you land in peace either... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

In one of those missions the enemy was far enough away from my base to allow me to take off, land right away again, come to a complete stop (got the "mission success" in that moment)and take off again.Had to bail out in that mission also but could move on to the next one...

So,is there any workaround for this problem when you don´t have time to takeoff, land and takeoff again? Or is it just this way and can´t be changed ?

Any help would be apprecciated !

Thanks and greetings,

Wolf

I've not experienced this difficulty yet...

But, how about getting up, fly away a bit, get up high, do some Bnz against attackers, be patient, they will go away and you can land????

Have fun!

Thanks for the answer, but, well, not that I haven´t tried, but in scramble missions I almost always end up hitting the silk...
It´s like the fighters hunt me down personally.
I´ve even tried running away like a coward just after takeoff, just flying away from the airfield, only to be jumped by two zekes out of the nothing.Well, more like out of the direction of my homebase...

I think it´s just kind of "not fair" not letting me advance in the campaign although I bailed over friendly territory...

Could there be some kind of way to edit the .mis file or something to have "instant success" just like in all the other missions?

Even worse than this problem:
I just noticed that it´s already 2:45 am here and I have to get up in three hours http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Someday this game will cost me my job... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Do you mean you "no instant success" turned on. I find this function is kind of useless. Cause in RL regardless you success your mission or not you still have to continue next mission. Not to say you fail then you are grounded something like that. So i always turn it off.

I have it turned off and always have, this keeps me from flying "full switch" in offline campaigns.
But I have flown a number of scambles in New Guinea flying for the Aussie units and I have had to bail a few times, but I always go onto the next mission anyway. So I don't understand how this is happeneing to you?? Unless of course you really have 'No Instant Success' turned on and not off. Turn it off, because what you want is instant mission success.

WolfK33, do you have your Nav Lights on? I, and our JG53 Gruppe, have found that with them on in SP and COOP missions, the ememy can and does find you quicker and more easily if you use them. If they're off it seems they have less of a chance. Not sure if it's an ingame bug or not but it does somehow make a difference. Give it a try, you've got nothing to lose. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Back from work and lots of answers, thanks all!

Lt.Davis, mortoma, I have "no instant success" turned off, switch to the right, light not on (why couldn´t they call it "instant success" off or on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif )and it works in all other mission types, just not in scramble missions.
I´m in the Guadalcanal campaign now in my pilot career, unfortunately I don´t know if the problem was already there before, because only lately the "Hamps" started showing up wich I just can´t beat in my wildcat, before I never had to bail in scrambles, always made it back home one way or another..

GT182, no, no nav lights,no smoke, nothing.Even tried hiding in clouds, but no chance...

Looks like my only hope is that the Guadalcanal campaign will be over soon without too many scrambles, as I think I´m due to get a corsair in the following campaign, maybe I can make a better stand with that bird... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Ouch, that hurts, don't know what to tell you on that, other than, "Check yer 6 more often". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I have read somewhere here on the forums that a fix was supposed to be in a patch so the AI didn't find us as easily as it does now.... even in the clouds. Hopefully it'll be in the next patch or included in the Addon we're getting.
