Hiya,

I must admit that I cant tell a Panzer tank from a Pansy flower.

So would somebody be kind enough to tell me what these are? Theyre all from 1st SS Panzers advance into the Soviet Union.

A - Looks pretty much like an early KV-1.

B/D - Not so sure, but I'd guess T-35. Or T-28 - never could say which is which ...

C - KV-2

I would agree with all of those except the first one, that one looks like one of the BT fast tanks to me. It's hull was used as the base design for the KV tanks so they look very similar, but the turret on that one looks just a shade too small to be KV.

Just my .02c, cool pictures!

The KV-1 was based on the SMK experimental heavy tank not on the BT light tank.

Thats great guys, thank you very much. The knowledge in these forums never ceases to amaze me.

Heres a couple more pics I'd like help with if you have the time.

Picture 1 isnt a tank, infact, I dont know what it is, any guesses?

Does anybody know what the white diamond indicates on the side of the turret in picture 3? This would be really helpfull to know.

And lastly, Picture 4 is German I think, but what is the tank? And what do the three sets of numbers in the triangle indicate?

It's BA-10, actually. The turret is round, without the rear pocket and the rear wall of the hull is round (on the BA-6 it's composed from 2 flat plates).

The triangles and diamonds along with numbers and letters are unit designation. Unfortunately I don't have enough knowlege to say which exhactly.
