Well as the listing says how do You gain the other medals?
I currently have all of the Iron Crosses with all the stuffing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
I am wondering on how to gain the other medals.

Also having played the game a long time I still have to meet other warships than Destroyers,Armed Trawlers and torpedo boats. Are they so rare that they do not pop up?!

Welcome to the forum!

Hmm your question is hard to answer. I personally have only gotten the U-boat clasp once, and never the other one (forgot what its called).

Others got them all without effort. It might be a bug, or some kind of "feature", but it doesn't seem to be linked to renown, number of patrols, tonnage per patrol, nor the type of ships sunk and planes downed.

I have sunk every ship in the stock game now (except some of the more elusive ones in GWX mod), got over 200K/patrol tonnage, downed 50+ planes per patrol(yes, I know, in stock game), haven't died 1939-1944, and still have yet to get both of those medals...

Just don't worry about it

This page in the Community Manual (http://alexbret.perso.cegetel.net/indexbd9b.html?title=Medals) has quite a bit of info on medals, but nothing about how the player himself gets the U-boat badge, front clasp, or wound badge.

My current commander (GWX 2.1 career) has the badge and front clasp, so rest assured they are obtainable! From memory, one or both of these is awarded after you successfully return to base - and by that I mean you actually sail all the way home, rather than automatically 'teleport' home using the 'Return to Base' option on the in-game menu screen. Don't worry, you don't need to go to the trouble of actually docking at your home port; just sail within 30km of your base (I think... maybe 15km?), then the option in the menu changes to 'Dock at [name of base]'. In stock SH3, you also get extra renown for doing this (details in the Community Manual).

No idea how you get the wound badge as, unlike your crew, you don't get wounded - you either live or go down with your boat... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Capital ships such as cruisers, carriers and battleships are very rare in stock SH3, in my experience. In dozens of missions, I only saw cruisers on the odd occasion I went port-raiding in Loch Ewe, and was lucky enough to stumble across a couple enemy task forces that included escort carriers, one west of Ireland and another west of Gibraltar.

However, in GWX capital ships do seem to be more common - I've seen several types of British, German and US cruisers and battleships (although I've yet to see a carrier...). The movements of famous warships are included on historically-correct dates and locations, for example Warpsite at the Battle of Narvik, the pursuit of Bismarck and Prinz Eugen by Hood, Prince of Wales, King George V, etc.

I hope that helps!

For example Warpsite at the Battle of Narvik
On a side note it is HMS Nelson that I sunk in GWX in Narvik, not HMS Warspite. I was a tad upset about that too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif I wanted the Warspite's tonnage not the Nelsons!

You can get all of the medals in GWX easily. I have them all by late 1940 with the exception of the wound badge (Top right one). I have never had any of my crew wounded in any campaign so have no idea how you get it. Somebody else may want to jump in here.....

I think it's meant to be Warpsite, but unfortunately there's no Queen Elizabeth class battleship in SH3. I think a modder over at Subsim has built one recently though http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I can get the Hood but not a Queen Elizabeth? I don't know. I just hope the Queen Elizabeth they moddled wasn't:

a) A cruise liner
b) Another cruise liner
c) A 60,000 tonne Aircraft carrier..... I would like that tonnage sunk though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Fear not, it's a very good model of the mighty Warspite:
