I know IRL often ships would RTB with holed props, often making for a very worrisome ride for the pilot due to vibration

Im sure it will never be in FB/PF, but it would be neat to see, just the same...musta been easy to hit and relitvly common IRL, given the area of the propeller radius...alomost any head on or dead 6 shooting must have produced a few prop hits

I never thought about it but thats a good point http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It COULD lead to a thrown prop tip (end, or blade). Material loss from hole would lead to vibration . . . but there are many pictures of planes that made it back with holes in prop. Pilots typically throttled back thinking something wrong with motor, though I don't recall anyone complaining of extreme vibration, and most all surprised they had a holed prop. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

about two weeks ago I was in the top turret of either an a-20 or a b-25. I was shooting at the propellers while they were stopped and while they were running. I wasted a lot of ammo in several different tests and I could not get one hit on either a rotating prop or a prop that was not in motion.

wonder if prop damage will be in BoB?

Hitting the prop disc does not equal hitting a prop blade. To a bullet, the prop is basically stationary. The bullet is moving so much faster.

Here are some interesting statistics (yes yes, statistics can mean anything) posted some time ago here. I hope I'm not copyright infringing, if so I'll certainly remove it.

It looks to me like propellor damage damage was not a serious consideration.

<edit> appologies, I don't seem to know the syntax to post pictures.
