I'd like to get a book on virtual fighter combat. I've read Robert Shaw's "Fighter Combat" a couple of times, but I want one that focuses on combat sims. A Google search suggests "Check Six", "In Pursuit" and "Angels and Airspeed". Does anyone have any comments on the merits of them? I'm not so interested in long chapters about modern aspects of flying (jets, missiles etc.), as I usually fly early war fighters.

Any advice gratefully received!

Angels and Airspeed is written by one of my squadmates. That being said, I'd recommend it without hesitation. It's easy to read and understand, and the things explained in the book can be put to use immediately in IL-2.

I can't recommend 'In Pursuit' highly enough - it really does answer all the questions you are likely to ask, it's very in-depth and quite technical but very simply and succinctly explained with lots of useful diagrams http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Haven't read the others though...

"In Pursuit" covers almost everything and is a very good addition to Robert Shaw's book to do the virtual thing. (Dang, I printed it too, skarden http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif )

"Check Six" is ok, easy to read, but if you are used to Robert Shaw's "Fighter Combat" it will not satisfy you.
