The crusaders came from other countries than just England mate, those guards speak French because they are French, and you'll find guards speaking other languages too........... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Yeah, even in that trailer where they're all sitting around a table, the very first thing you hear is "das kann nicht weitergehen!"("it can't continue"). I remember cause the first time I watched that trailer I first thought "damn! I've been redirected to the german site!" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, I was also wondering about this, until I noticed that only the templars and crusaders were speaking in languages. Which of course makes perfect sense. Nothing like uniting the entire Europe in the name of christianity.

KOMM ZURüCK!

if you talk to lucy early on she explains that the animus translates important text and that she could make it translate more then gives some excuse for not doing it.

For one, she says that she could leave it in the original language, but says it would be more difficult, and asks if Desmond ever read Chaucer, thereby confirming the need for translation.

The one thing I don't get about it, though.. Why is it so important to understand what the beggars have to say? "Please, sir, I'm poor, I have nothing.." "No, YOU don't understand!!" Pfft. *shank*
