View Full Version : Urgent Help Needed: Full Real Soviet Nav..

I have used the cockpit recognition guide to find and recognize all of the intruments in the planes that I fly, but I can't seem to figure out how to navigate on full real in Soviet aircraft!

I understand that this is the way it probably was, but not all Soviet a/c have even a compass! And for the ones that do, it's the only navigation tool that I can find.

So what's the proper way to navigate in Soviet aircraft in full real, while using the in flight map sparingly?

Hey mate, a good way is to print off maps of where you are flying.

Here is a good site (http://777avg.com/maps/) that I use to get maps. Thanks Bearcat for this wonderful site! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Then, you can compare what you are seeing with the map. This makes things much easier!

Others will probably be along soon with some more maps sites.

Hope this helps,

While most Soviet aircraft did have compasses, the cockpit modelling usually hides them beneath the gunsight padding or behind the stick, rendering them useless to the 'Full Real' player.

There was a post in the PF forum (I think; I can't find it there now, but try Oleg's RR forum too) about a program for using the game's Devicelink output to another computer via your home network; the author had built a program that created an 'instrument panel' display for your a/c on the second computer (ideally a laptop, but the old 486 might suffice).

You might want to look that one up...

Just do what I do (not full real sorry) I fly without the speedbar just turn it on as if I were checking the compass out then turn it off again.

Can you tell what aircraft do you reffer to? VVS planes have compasses just not as useful as Germans do... they have some sort of navigaing compass, it shows you the heading you are supposed to take -- VVS planes do not have this equipment on compass instrument.

However heading is displayed at all times in left lower corner on the screen (red text) regardless of settings.
