Hahaha I'm probably gonna get flamed to hell for even asking this, but personally I think it would be awesome if possible.

I know I've seen some maps with gullies and narrow mountainous corridors you can fly through... that's what made me think of this.

Imagine if someone could make a map like the Asteroid the Millenium Falcon flies into (that turns out to be that weird giant worm monster).

Something with a bunch of narrow, sleek, winding corridors you could twist and turn your way through. And maybe they all empty out into a big enclosed room (when I say room of course I mean something huge) with stalagmite/tite-like things hanging from the ceiling and jutting out of the floor. Allow for some altitude changes by making it really big, but not so much that it turns into your classic IL-2 dogfight. Hell, maybe make two giant rooms, one for each team, with an objective there you have to destroy. Then you have a bunch of these different tunnels leading from both bases into a big central room. So to win you have to fight your way through both side's tunnels, the central room, and then manage to bomb/strafe whatever the target is.

I dunno, I think it could be pretty awesome to duke it out in an environment like that with realistic WW2 fighters with real aerodynamics. I know I've had fun with it in the past in old Star Wars games. But doing in a game where you have to keep track of blacking out, stalling etc... would make it just balls out crazy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Imagine seeing a bandit, coming in hot on your six... you dive, twist and turn, go through a tunnel and spot a pair of huge columns sticking out of the ground, it's very narrow, but you have no where else to go, so you roll sideways and your fighter barely slips through, practically scraping the sides... your opponent is not so lucky, and smashes head on into the left column, erupting into a giant ball of flame...

Really wish I had mapping experience/skills...

Anyone else think this would be cool?

One of the 'online dogfight' maps has deep valleys, as well as high altitude runways, but that is as close as you are likely to get. The IL-2 mapping scheme doesn't support 'caves' and the like, as I understand it, though with a little imagination it is possible to create a 'tunnel' with FMB objects - most are too small to allow much manoeuvring though.

Star Wars is SO 40 years ago LOL

Much better to do an Avatar map http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

To go with the modded planes? In some cases, why not?

Actually, an asteroid map sounds like great fun.
With all the new possibilities for Il2, I wonder if this is doable?

JarheadEd...THAT was hilarious and perfect for my morning laugh. Thanks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

There is a map on RCAF with runways and carriers on mountain peaks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I really need to try and "sink" one of those carriers
