Hi, Slowburn68. Welcome.
When I used the "Find" tool above and typed "bomb+types" in the search box, I got 294 results discussing exactly both your questions. Not exactly a list but a fountain of information. Cheers! Strider1

Also, you can download Harball's aircraft viewer ( http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=325 ) which contains a description of all the ordnance types.

The AB type is a cluster bomb. The different sizes are for different targets. AB250, AB500 and AB1000 are anti-personnel or anti-armor depending on the size.

The SD type is fragmentation.

The SC type is high explosive.

The PC type is armor penetrating with a small HE warhead. It is meant to be used against concrete and hardened structures.

FAB is a Russian designation. I think it stands for general purpose.

Isn't SD an armor piercing bomb?

SD is semi armour piercing.

the russian bombs are called FAB as general pupose and VAP as Napalm (only IL2 can carry it)

check out this (http://free-st.htnet.hr/dvd/Weapons.html) site

first is russian guns and then russian bombs.
then german guns and german bombs and so on

pretty useful info
